Want to show only some subcategories in a filter, but when setting up the filter I can only choose a main category or one only subcategory, can't sum several subcategories by ID in a text box as some other filters do.

I'm talking about a single dropdown list filter.

SO THE PROBLEM is that my website shows all subcategories even those that are deactivated in the category list in the admin side.

I think if the categories are deactivated should not be available in a filter drop down list.

Hi,

We let it displayed because a disabled category can potentially be used to list it's subcategories, but must not be displayed in another category listing.

What could be done is display the status of the category when we select the category in the backend.

Sorry, I cannot ger the sense of this sentence, could you explain in another way? I already unpublished the categories in the admin side but the show active in the filter list. In the filter setting I see no selectable choice to put unpublisehd elements on gray mode.

I think I didn't get the sense of your help.

Thank you.

I was telling that displaying the status of the category (published/unpublished) in the filter setting can be the solution.
It could be easiest to see which category is unpublished or not. But this is actually not implemented.
It will require some custom code.

Ok, thank you, now I understand, so the solution is a suggestion but not a real solution.

Take as a suggestion that it would be a good feature to be able to block those non published or the empty categories from filters, it brings confusion to users and in certain circumstance scan provoke really long lists.

Thank you.
