Hi
filter and search is very important and it is a more advance subject .
I don't find a easy tutorial on hikashop functionnalities relative to search and filter !
The only way to learn more on this topic is to read the forum .
so i have some basic questions before go to php code and test backend setting on frontend

1 where the functionnalities for filter and search is locate
---a on joomla server directory ?
---b hikashop package (zip) ? ( need extension file )

2 Does hikashop bussiness have more functionnalities in this area ( search filter )

3 Does filter and search extension are only in this order only Plugins and modules ?

4 on which component type subitem search fields work ?
i think category and product but is there others ?

5 if i use filter /search for a product; on which fields ( default , custom ) can i make it work ?
is there difference between Essential and bussiness ?

6 is there third joomla extension that implement better way how search /filter work in Hikashop ?
i find
a http://offlajn.com/universal-ajax-live-search/universal-ajax-live-search/flypage.tpl.html
b www.hikashop.com/forum/2-general-talk-ab...kashop-template.html

7 search/filter is in a way relative to site map . Does hikashop support sitemap ? If yes for which king of compoment ( product ? )

8 does override , custom style for filter/search work like joomla extension ?

9 Does internationalisation is supported by hikashop search and filter ?

regard's

Hi,

1. Filters are available via the menu Display>Filters with the Business edition. The search plugins of HikaShop which are compatible with the search module of joomla can be configured via the joomla plugins manager.

2. Yes. Filters are only available in the Business edition.

3. Filters can be displayed either in products listings or via the hikashop filter module. For the joomla search, it be be displayed via the joomla search module (or another search module compatible) or the joomla search result page.

4. Filters only work on products. The search plugins are for products and categories.

5. Almost any field. Custom fields, characteristics, categories, price, weight, dimensions, name, etc. Filters are not available in the Essential edition.

6. HikaShop filters can only be used by HikaShop as they are very specific to HikaShop. For the joomla search, you'll indeed find plenty of modules to replace the joomla search module.

7. There is not much link to the site map as far as I can see. But yes, HikaShop supports site map with xmap: www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...ation-with-xmap.html

8. You can override the display if you want and of course apply the CSS you want on the elements.

9. To a certain point yes.

Nicholas,

Is there any way to have it located in a specific module location instead of at the top of the content area?

Yes. Turn off the "display filter" option of your products listing menu/module via the menu Display>Content menus/modules and instead configure like you want the hikashop filter module via the joomla modules manager.
