Product Images Not Showing in Google

When I do a search for an item in Google if I click on "Images" the item does not come up at all it only comes up if I click on "Web".

Any idea why the product would not show in Google Images and any suggestions on how to change that?

The items are also listed on eBay and the image on eBay always shows but not the one on the website and both sites use the same image name.

It's a good question, actually I don't know how the image search is managed by google.
They maybe are not using the same robots, and it don't managed it based on the same criteria than the "web" tab.

It's probably more based on the images alt tags, etc.

Yeah, that is odd.

1) How do we add alt text to our product images? I viewed the image via firebug and the alt is empty.

2 In the product description area, there is a field that says "URL" what is that for?

1. The alt value will be the name of your product's image, you'll be able to edit it through the "Images" tab of your product configuration page.

2. As it's said on the documentation :

Url : The url of the product is a url to the manufacturer website in order to get more information for your customers. This url, if filled in, will be displayed on the product page.
