Hi HikaSupport

Can You please help me with the following question?
Is it possible to set Hikashop filters for the following filtering criteria:

- Vendor Name
- Date file was uploaded (product was created)
- Attachment file type (for example PDF, MP3...) - my shop will be with digital files and users will mostly look for files of specific types
- attachment size
- file name
- file description
- with or without free sample downloads
- products tags

Thank You
Tim

Hi,

We don't have possibility to filter on files.
But what can be done is to create custom product fields and fill their values manually on the product edition page based on the file informations. And then filter on these fields directly.

Hi Xavier

Filtering is one of the most important features of Hikashop Business and to be honest I am rather disappointed with it (at least for now - and it is surprising because Hikahop is a really good product in my opinion).

A. Search by Category
The way search by filed "Category" is handled is not acceptable for a paid product:
1. The search is limited to one category and sub categories but does not go deeper (sub categories of sub categories) - basically it only shows one level.
2. The filed by default is smaller than other filters
3. The filed format is very much not user friendly. This should be the same selection field as was used in hikashop when new product is added (with category explorer).

Please help me with the above problems? If the above cannot be done - is it possible to apply filtering based on category currently selected by the user (for example thru category listing).

B. Format of "text" type fields.
It would be nice to have some search help while writing - for example the same way it was already done for hikashop when new product is added in fields "Tags" or "Brand". Maybe with some limitation to 10 entries for example – just not to overflow the screen.
Can this be done in Standard? If not is this planned in future? If not how much would cost to enable this functionality / who could potentially do this modification?

C. Search on attachments
Third issue is what You already confirmed – no filtering on attachment. Zero. This is really disappointing. The functional minimum from my perspective is:
- attachment size
- with or without free downloads
- Attachment file type/extension (for example PDF, MP3...)

I understand that I could created a field and ask vendor to populate it for each product but I hope You understand that this is not really a solution for a serious business.
And again the same questions. Is this planned in future? If not how much would cost to enable this functionality / who could potentially do this modification?

Please consider the above remarks as customer feedback. I consider HikaShop the best e-commerce solution for Joomla and I really hold my fingers crossed that You will keep the same high quality level for all Your functionalities. Currently filtering in my opinion is not mature enough to add it as part of the product.

I hope the feedback will be valuable for You and You will consider putting some more effort in filtering functionality for HikaShop business. The whole solution would really gain a lot.

Thank You
Tim

Hi,

1. There is no option to do that for now. For categories, I wouldn't recommend to use a filter. Instead use a categories listing module. HikaShop has a 1 or 2 level module for that. And If you need more levels, you can use for example this module:
extensions.joomla.org/extension/skyline-...cordion-for-hikashop
It can handle as many levels as you want.
That's some reasons why we didn't focus our efforts on categories filters until now since you have some possible alternatives.

2. There is no option to do that for now. However, if you use an ajax Joomla search module with the HikaShop search plugin, you can achieve a dynamic text search field. The drawback is that the results will be displayed by Joomla, not HikaShop, so it will be less nice.

3. There is no option to do that for now.

4. Please understand that the explorer selector that we have in the backend was only added less than a year ago and I took us already 6 months to make it available everywhere in the backend. Next step will probably be the filters/custom fields for it, but we've been working on a whole new checkout system for the past 6 months and are still working on it so other things have been put aside for now to focus on that. So I can't say what we'll do when regarding filters. It would be lying to tell you anything else. However, we do appreciate your feedback on that. It will come in handy when we finally have the time to work on the filtering system.

5. There is this extension for filtering for HikaShop:
extensions.joomla.org/extension/cherry-picker-for-hikashop
It might be able to answer some of your needs.

6. To go further and be able to do all you want with the filters system of the current version of HikaShop, it would some extensive custom coding. I would recommend to contact our partners about that:
www.hikashop.com/home/our-partners.html
Several of them should be able to provide such customization. The price will depends on how much they charge and the extent of what you want them to do so I can't say.
