filter on products showing

Hi

I have had this working once but trying to add another filter messed it up.

1. The customer goes to one category.
2. The list shows those products in that category.
3. filter products in that category by selecting filter checkbox

What happens whatever I select in the module, menu, filter - it will show all products based on the customer field in any category when I want it to show only whats in the category showing.

Just going slightly mad here as I had it working once.
