-- HikaShop version -- : 4.4.4

When we do the search, I just want to see the search result for articles and products from Hikashop; but it also shows the Hikashop's categories, is there a way to disable showing the categories in the search result?

Hi,

I suppose that you must be using the old search system of Joomla on a Joomla 3 website.
In that case, go in the Joomla plugins manager and filter on the group "search".
You'll find two plugins for HikaShop, one for products and one for categories. Disable the one for categories and categories won't show up in the search results.

I use
php 7.4.33
Joomla! 3.9.18 Stable
HikaShop 5.1.0

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi,

Can you provide the URL of a search page with categories so that we can see what problem you have exactly ?

Hi Nicolas,

thanks for your reply. The link is a category-listing:
zeitkaufhaus.de/de/zeitlaeden/zeitkaufhaus-ladenkategorien .

I want the people to see the categories, but if you look for a special item, the search-result should be without categories, because, if you search, for example, "poster", you receive all posters, but at the top, there are the categories and if you don´t scroll, you have the impression, that nothing happened.

Hello,

After tests & analyzes in fact, what you obtain corresponds to the expected results based on the configuration of your page.
More specifically, your search results are good and do not contain categories among the results.

But you actually have a part of your menu item which in fact continues to display the categories.
Therefore, we recommend that you use these settings:

This will allow you to automatically redirect to an another menu item with a product listing (filtered therefore) but WITHOUT the category part which means that you actually have to scroll to see the results.
Regards

Thank you.
At first: I have no "filtering" module but a "filter" Modul. It´s looking a little bit different. I can´t leave "menu" empty, it´s always 154. So, I created like recommended a new item "product listing" (which I don´t want to have in my menu...) I typed the new id in the module. The categories are still shown and the css is destroyed...I can´t reset the search...

Hi,

If you don't want the products listing menu item to appear, you can activate its "hidden" display setting.

Entering the id of a products listing menu item in that "menu" setting of your filter module and having the "force redirect" setting below activated should work fine.
If the display of the products listing is different with that menu item compared to what you have with your categories listing menu item, that just means you need to adjust the settings under the "products options" of the products listing menu item to match with the same settings of your categories listing menu item.

Hi Nicolas,
thank you. I changed the settings in the menu items. Looks fine. But- if my product-list-menu-item is hidden, it doesn´t work.I get the categories. If it´s published, it seems to work. But the search disappears, you get only the results, and the results are a little bit strange. You receive every letter which will be found by the engine. For example: you look for "Teller", than you find "Teller" (plate, assiette) and "SchriftsTELLER" (Author, auteur).

Hi,

Then, keep the menu item not hidden and move it to another menu than the one used for the menu module displaying the main menu of your website. For example, you can move it to the "HikaShop default menus" menu which is precreated by HikaShop when you install it for the first time.

HI Nicolas, thanks.
I don´t know how to move the menu-item to default hikashop menus, it´s not shown in the list on the right side of the module.
I have seen, that in the hikashop default menu is already a productlisting. Entering this id in the filter-modul is unfortunately a bad result. Maybe I should delete the productlisting in the mainmenu and create it new in the hikashop default menu.
But if I keep the productlisting activated in the menu - in the results, there is no search-bar shown. How to solve this ?

Hi,

Edit the settings of the filter module, and under the "menu assignments" tab, make sure the products listing menu item is selected.

Regarding a back button, you already have one in your browser. However, what you can do is to activate and configure the breadcrumbs module of Joomla. It can help a lot when navigating back and knowing where you are on the website.

Hi Nicolas,
you made my day...thank you very much. You know (and excuse me) it´s a so simple solution. But I´m very confused. You have to look in the settings of the component, you have plugins to configure, the modules...And now - joomla. You know, I have the template ja_lawfirm, but the breadcrumbs aren´t shown anywhere...
Hopefully last question: I can search for name and price. Where do I find the correct items to add in the searchbar ?
Kind regards
Martin

Hi,
In the search-roducts-plugin, I inserted in "fields" the following:
"product_name,product_description,product_type,autor,verlag,erscheinungsort,erscheinungsjahr,auflage,einband,zustand,signiert,erstausgabe". But, in the search in the frontend, you only have price and name of the product.
In the hikashop filter modul, there is in filters "Preis_1,Produkt_2". So, i tseems to be correct. But how to add the items above like author, Year, title of a book ?

Hi,

Edit your search filter "Produkt" via the Display>Filters menu of the HikaShop backend.
There, you can select the columns on which you want to apply the filter.
