-- url of the page with the problem -- : ask me in pm
-- HikaShop version -- : 2.2.2
-- Joomla version -- : 3.1x
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.24

Here is what is happening. When an order is submitted the email notification goes to the customer just fine. The order notification to the store owners does not go through if the email address is the same as the store domain - i.e. if the website the store is on is fitfuel.com and the email orders should go to is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. the order confirmation does not ever go through.

Now, I created a forwarding email address on another domain - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. which takes in email then forwards it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and the store then sends out the notification just fine.

I am on godaddy shared hosting and I am a pretty skilled developer. My real question is - is this a hikashop problem or a hosting problem? My guess is that it is a hikashop problem because I have installed hundreds of apps and shopping carts that can email to the same domain without a problem. I could really use some guidance here.

Thanks!

Hi,

In HikaShop we use the Joomla email system, so if all the emails are sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., they should be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
I think that it's not an HikaShop problem, thanks to check the Joomla email configuration and then your server configuration.

Thanks to update your HikaShop version ;)

Was there ever a solution for this? I am having the exact same problem. I'm on GoDaddy and the emails are sent without a problem to an email address with a different domain. Customers are receiving emails fine as well.

Egyptianred.com.au
Hikashop Essential 2.3.0
PHP 5.4.23

If you don't get the email, check your spam box. If you don't have it, check that you can send emails with Joomla (from the mass mail component for example). If you don't receive the emails, it's likely that the email configuration of the joomla configuration page is not correct. You should ask your hosting company about what you should put there.
If your customers receive them and not the administrator, it's likely that the email configuration of the hikashop configuration page is not correct. You should ask your hosting company about what you should put there. Usually, it comes from either the charset encoding, or the "add names" option.

Joomla is sending emails fine, it is only Hikashop with the problem. I change nothing but the "Order creation notifications email address" to an email with a different domain (even though it is still an account hosted on the same server) and it works perfectly.

Joomla has the same problem because the problem is actually not in HikaShop but in your email server which doesn't want the website to send emails to the same domain. That's why entering another email in that option solved the problem and why your customers were receiving the emails but not the email that you had configured in that option.
