What would be the best approach to import images for a photografers site in bulk?

I use the Business edition and trying to import images in bulk from a folder as the documentention indicates and it is working ...
However, I am missing the option to auto-create categories based on the folder structure of the original folder structure.

Currently I need to create a category for every original folder and import the images per folder... which is to time consuming.

F.e. after an event we might end op with 3000 pictures in 50 folders or so.. like <event>/<day>/<group1><subgroup>

Any suggestions on the best approach for this?

Hi,

This kind of thing is not available in HikaShop, it's not possible to create categories depending on images, etc.
You will have to develop this custom feature or ask to a third developer in the commercial jobs section of this forum ;)

Hi Xavier,

thx for the reply... it actually is the creation of the categories based on the folders the images are in during the import originally...

so images in the original folder Chrismas 2013/Friday/Show 1 - 20:00/xxxx.jpg will create the categories "Chrismas 2013", "Friday" and "Show 1 - 20:00" with the relations correct between them... actually how the csv import is working currently -> "create missing categories automatically". Then import the image in the correct category.

I think I will be looking into creating an import module for this based on the CSV import routines or so.... ( I created some plugin for HS in the past already..)
or create a CSV outside HS based on the images and their folder structure, then use the csv to import the images...

any other ideas perhaps?

thx,
Hans
