Hello there,

I am trying to migrate my Joomla 1.5 website to a new Joomla 3.3 site. Looking at e-commerce/shopping cart options, I saw that HikaShop claims to be able to migrate from VirtueMart so I decided to give it a try. However, this has been a total fail until now. I spent almost a whole day trying various things yesterday to import my VirtueMart data, but all to no avail. Very frustrating.

First attempt: Installed HikaShop on my Joomla 1.5 site and tried the 'import from VirtueMart' option. I tried various things in the 'Prefix of Virtuemart tables in your database' box: (i6s9r is the prefix for all the tables in my J1.5 database)

i6s9r > no error message, but nothing was imported
vm > error message: There is no table with the prefix 'vm_' in your Joomla's database.
i6s9r_vm > error message: There is no table with the prefix 'i6s9r_vm' in your Joomla's database.

Second attempt: I tried going the route of CSVI, as suggested on a few forum posts.
I installed CSVI 1.9.2 on my J1.5 site and did Export/CSVI Product Export, downloading the CSV file of the export (see attached).
However, I was not able to open the file in HikaShop of my J3.3 site: I only got a series of errors.

I would be very grateful if anyone is able to help out or identify what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance,
Andre

Hi,

Please indicate the VirtueMart version number installed in your Joomla 1.5 website.
The HikaShop import expert is not working during the week end (like normal employees) and will be available Tuesday.
Monday 14 July will be a day off in France (The french independence day) so I will still be the only one doing some HikaShop support.

The CSV import system requires the same structure than the export.
To get the CSV structure, the best is to export a single product in the backend. You will have a CSV with all possible columns.
You will require to import a CSV with the similar structure (same colomns).
HikaShop does not have a "column name translation" system ; it is something we want to implement but it is not ready yet.

Please understand that you posted your message a Wednesday night. We are doing our best to propose the best support possible, for users who have an HikaShop license and user who are using the free version.
I know that your migration problem is annoying but we (the HikaShop team) are also human and the support team need some rest sometime. That's why I am currently alone to make the full support and I can't reply to all questions like that.

Merci pour la réponse et bonne fête de la Bastille!

The VM version on my J1.5 site is 1.1.9.

No idea why the VM to HS fails on the J1.5 site, then?

I have exported a CSV with only one record (attached), but I still don't know how I should proceed. If the VM to HS import worked as it should, I would be glad to not deal with these CSV files.

Thanks for any further suggestion whenever possible, even after the holiday. :)

Andre

Hi,

Well, I don't remember the version we used when we developed the virtuemart import system.
What I can suggest you is to activate the Joomla debug mode and also to activate the "error reporting" in your Joomla global configuration.
You do not see an error message but it is possible that there is a SQL query problem or a PHP (no fatal) error which stop the import processing.

The debug and the error reporting would display these problems in the page so it will be easier to see and understand if there is a direct error.

For the CSV import, the documentation page will give you the first notions.
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/i...hikashop-import.html
The first line in the CSV is the "header", it indicates what the column will contain (product name, product code, etc).
The header should follow the HikaShop structure. So you might need to rename the columns in your big CSV file in order to feet to the HikaShop CSV structure.
