You say:

It enables you to automatically generates products based on files/images. That is useful when you are building a website selling images, mp3, and that you have a lot of them which will all have the same product options ( prices, description, etc ). This feature is only available in the Business version of HikaShop.

I have copied a SLEW of images over into the Hikashop media>com_hikshop>upload folder, so the images are showing up as selectable within the component.

Some questions:
  1. can I generate products with these images if I upgrade to the Business version?
  2. does it matter if the images are in multiple folders, some nested?
  3. can I move the products into different categories after creating them?
  4. do you have documentation on how to make the product template?
  5. can I upgrade to Business instead of buying it from scratch?
  6. right now I have HikaShop and HikaMarket. I bought HikaMarket to make it easy for my client to add or edit products. Do I need all three if the import function will work for me?

thanks,
Hope

Hi,

The product template is a feature which allow you to duplicate an existing product (the template) but change the values present in the CSV file.
So you do not need to specify all fields in the CSV, just the specific information.

1. You do not need the Business version to import product images in the import.
2. It does not matter, as long as the image is in the media/com_hikashop/upload/ folder (or sub folder)
3. Yes, you can
4. The product template is a classical HikaShop product.
5. You can upgrade using the link "Essential to Business" under the menu "Extensions".
6. All three ? I only see two products : HikaShop and HikaMarket.

Thank you Jerome,
Regarding:

1. You do not need the Business version to import product images in the import.

I already have all the images in the media/com_hikashop/upload/ folder. Is there a function for converting these images into product pages? I thought I needed the business version for that function.

Hello,
No there is no option to do that, you'll just have to attach the path of your product image to your product through your CSV file, a good solution can be to create a product manually with and image and export your products so that you can have and example of how you'll have to structure your csv import file.

Thanks, Mohamed,

I really get the feeling that I can do this- I think I can import images and make them products if I have the Business edition. See screenshot. It's rough waiting for this information. I understand that this is my first HikaShop and it takes time to learn, but I get the feeling that the answers I'm getting on this forum aren't all accurate.

Okay, I purchased the Business Edition and began to "Import Product from Folder". I see that I can use a relative path or absolute. My relative path is media/com_hikashop/upload/hikashop/advent-calendars. I get the error shown in screenshot:

I checked with Cloud Access and the permissions on the media folder are readable and writeable.

Hi,

As explained in the documentation, the "import product from folder", allow you to duplicate the "product template" for each file into a specified folder.
Each copy product will be associated to one single file (for his main image or downloaded file, depending the option you choose).
If you do not use a product template, the product will be quite "empty", and his product name (and code) will be based on the file in the targeted folder.

It is explained in the last part of the documentation page
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/i...import.html#generate

The images that you want to import shouldn't be in the HikaShop media folder, because it will copy the files into this folder.
You could create some kind of infinite loop if your source and destination folder are the same.

Hope it help you to understand the feature.
My first answer was more to provide you an alternative solution (using a CSV file) for this kind of import.

NEW: I HAVE UNINSTALLED ALL THINGS HIKA FROM MY SITE. I WILL REINSTALL A FRESH VERSION NEXT TO MAKE SURE IT'S CLEAN.

AFTER GETTING SUPPORT FROM OSTRAINING AND CLOUD ACCESS I AGREED WITH THEM THAT THERE'S LIKELY A BUG IN THE HIKASHOP IMPORT FROM FOLDER FUNCTION. I DISCOVERED MANY FOLDERS OF THUMBNAILS IN THE MEDIA>COM_HIKASHOP>UPLOAD FOLDER THAT INCLUDE MY PRODUCT IMAGES WHICH MUST HAVE BEEN GENERATED DURING MY ATTEMPTS, BUT NO PRODUCTS WERE CREATED. SINCE THERE ARE ONLY 150 PRODUCTS, AND I'VE BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR A COUPLE WEEKS, I'M JUST GOING TO REINSTALL HIKASHOP AND MANUALLY CREATE THE PRODUCTS. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND FOR THE BUSINESS EDITION. I'LL CREATE NEW TICKETS AS NEEDED, BUT THIS ONE IS CLOSED AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. YOU CAN IGNORE EVERYTHING BELOW THIS PARAGRAPH.

Thank you for helping me Jerome.

I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THAT I SEND YOU THE FTP AND ADMIN LOGIN VIA EMAIL SO THAT YOU CAN LOOK AT THIS FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN ON THE FORUM FOR TWO WEEKS AND I HAVE YET TO HAVE ONE PRODUCT WORKING. I HAVE TWO WEEKS TO FINISH THE SITE.

I wish I could generate a CSV file from Phoca Gallery but I can't, so I"m stuck using the "import from folder" feature.

I deleted the images out of the media/com_hikashop/upload/ folder and attempted the same procedure to import from another folder, on the server at images/hikashop/advent-calendars. I get the same error:

Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in /mnt/data/vhosts/casite-613223.cloudaccess.net/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_hikashop/helpers/import.php on line 143

Warning: substr() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /mnt/data/vhosts/casite-613223.cloudaccess.net/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_hikashop/helpers/import.php on line 1031

This time I did not attempt to assign a template, which is probably useless in my case since I'm just importing images. I can populate the content once the product pages are generated.

I have been referencing your documentation all along ( www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/i...import.html#generate )

CAn you get back to me ASAP? I need to get this shopping cart in motion. I really appreciate your help.

Hi,

About the "error" you mentionned, it is just a PHP warning, it is not a blocking error.
You can send credentials using the contact form ; I might not be able to look at it personally but someone from the HikaShop support team will.
Nicolas will receive your message and will do what is necessary to make it work.
