-- HikaShop version -- : 2.4.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.1
-- PHP version -- : 5.5.21
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : google chrome 43.0.2357.124 m

I am preparing column headers for csvi import from virtuemart 1 into HikaShop Business
Please let me know if virtuemart manufacturer is the same as brand and if so what is the column header for brand for hika shop?

In the HikaShop interface, when i click on dropdown box "brand" the page header does not say "brand" it say's "category". Is this an error?

Also, is there an area that I can see appropriate column headings for csvi file when importing all product data from virtuemart 1 to hikashop 2.4.0 business?
Thank you

Hi,

Yes indeed manufacturer is the same as brand, to import it you have to use the column name "product_manufacturer_id".

It says category because the brands are managed the same way than our categories, with some specificities, so no it is not an error.

The best to have all the column headings is to create a sample product in HikaShop, then export it, it will generate a csv file with all the desired informations.

Just one more thing, we have an import function to import shop data from Virtuemart 1, via ou menu Products > Import, select Import from Virtuemart.

Here is documentation related on the imports:

Thanks for your assistance.
I tried to create a product and export it but I could find no options to do that. Then I read that there is no export function for hikashop yet. I have business Hikashop.

Also,
Would I need to install latest Virtuemart on the new site to use import feature you mention as I am importing data from a Joomla 1.5 into Joomla 3.4.1.
Would i have to import all products into new Virtuemart from 1.5 site first before importing products from vm1 via hikashop?

Hi,

I'm not sure where you read that there is no export function in HikaShop but that's false.
An export function has been in HikaShop since the first versions of HikaShop, 5 years ago.
You can get a CSV export of your products with the "export" button of your products listing in the backend of HikaShop.

And no. You better do it the other way around. Install HikaShop on your Joomla 1.5 in order to extract the data from your VM1 into HikaShop, and then migrate the tables of HikaShop from the 1.5 website database to your Joomla 3.x database via phpmyadmin export/import functions.

After some searching I found the export via csv "action" and it showed all the column headers.

I checked the forum post that stated there is no export function in hikashop and I see now the post is over 4 years old.
Here's the thread:
www.hikashop.com/forum/4-how-to/11204-ho...tegories-to-csv.html

So are you saying that it would it be a better solution to install the hikashop business on J1.5 site instead of exporting the data in csv into hikashop on the J3x?
Thanks,
Joanne

Hi,

Yes, if you scroll down to the end of the thread there, we say that there is now an export button :)

Well, the method I recommend will not only import the products, but the orders, the addresses, etc.
With the CSV export/import, you'll only get the products.
Now if you only want the products, sure, it might be better to do an export/import of CSV.
