Hi,

We're just about to re-publish our website in Joomla 3 (it's in 2.5 at present), and we'll be moving Hikashop. I have some questions, please:

1. Are the Hikashop mySQL tables the same in Joomla 3? Can I simply install a Hikashop instance on the new site, then move the tables from old to new?

2. Is it possible to have both old and new Hikashops working at the same time until we switch over, so we can test thoroughly? I noticed that when I recently moved our site to a new domain, it didn't work at all (blank page) until I changed the url on the Hikashop website. We would like to configure the new site before switching.

3. Any other suggestions?

Best regards,

John

Hi,

1. Yes they are the same. The only requirement is that you use the same version of tables of HikaShop than the files of HikaShop on your website. So if install a HikaShop 2.2 on your new website, the tables coming from the old website also need to come from a HikaShop 2.2 or it won't work properly.

2. You can have both websites with HikaShop at the same time yes. But you won't have two different HikaShops on the same website.

3. I would recommend to make sure that the ids of the users in Joomla are the same between the old and the new website if you want HikaShop to display the correct addresses to the correct users. Otherwise, your users will get the addresses of other users unless you also update the user_cms_id of the hikashop_user table with the new ids.
