-- HikaShop version -- : .2.2.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.1.5

I can't find a way to show category descriptions from the hikashop content module. I see a "show description" switch under Display/Content Menus/Categories Listing (which is on), but not under Display/Content Modules. Anything I can do about this?

Thanks!

Hi,

I think that you'll just have to :
- Go to "Hikashop->Display->Content menus'
- Edit the content menu which have the ID number 131
- Set the Show description option to YES

Hope this will help you a little.

Thanks for the quick response. As mentioned earlier, I have already set this to on. I'm attaching a screenshot. Anything else I could look into?

Thanks again,
g.

Hi there,

Did you edited any view? This option should display the description of the category so could you make sure the given category has a description?

Here is a screenshot of the description for the "Historical Perspectives" category.

Thanks!

Eliot and Mohamed got confused here.

It's normal that you don't have the "show description" option for modules as this option is there so that you can activate the display of the description of the associated category, not to display the description of each elements of your listing. There is no point in displaying that on a module.
If you want to display the description of each element on a module, you want to change the option "item box layout" of your module to "image and description".

Thanks Nicolas. Understood. No confusion and again thank you for the quick response.

I am not trying to display the description of each product in the category listing. I am just trying to display the description of the category. In my example, the module is called "Shop". The categories in there are: Articles as PDF, Historical Perspectives and some others. These are all defined as categories, not products in hikashop. Each one of these categories has a description field. I have entered the description for Historical Perspectives to test out how to display it. However, I cannot see how to display the description of this category on the front end. When you click on the category in the module in the front end, isn't the description supposed to show up? I have it to where the title shows up and all the products under this category show up. I don't need the description of each product (which as you pointed out can be displayed by selecting "image and description" in the div under default parameters for categories). I need the description of this category to show up on top. The description is there in the back end, so there must be some way to display it on the front end, correct?

Here is the link that shows the Historical Perspectives category:
www.aquaticmammalsjournal.org/index.php?...spectives&Itemid=131

Does this make sense?

Thanks again very much for your assistance. By the way, we have purchased the business version of Hikashop. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Thank you for the explanation. So actually what Mohamed said was correct. Just turning on that option should be enough.
Can you provide a backend access to your website so that we can look at your settings ?
