How to upgrade in a live store

I have been using the Starter edition which is live and is processing orders. I have purchased Essential but I have looked hard to find an article that will tell me that I can upgrade from Starter to Essential and keep all of my data. I know how to install, but where is the upgrade information?

Should I take Joomla offline?

The site is being hit all of the time and I do not want to get this wrong, please advise the process or point me in the right direction to an existing article.

Apologies if my search techniques are so bad that the information is clearly available.

Hi,

Upgrading HikaShop is like updating HikaShop.
If you have to same version number the upgrade process will just copying new core files.
The database is not touch (except for updates which can update the database schema), your configuration is kept, your products and your overrides too.

You do not require to put your joomla website off. The process is quite fast. It's a classical installation of HikaShop.
We will recommend you to make a backup before, for security purpose.
If you have edit some core files directly, the files will be overwrite (like for updates). With a backup you will be sure to be able to retrieve your old files, if you have any problem.
