How to create custom variant attribute with prices

Trying to add custom variant prices, since the joomla virtuemart would not allow custom options to be imported.
All products were imported, but not the variant's.
basically this is a vinyl decal shop, so we want our standard size, but there are 17 other sizes that are allow. with $1.00 to $17.00 additional. I was able to get the variant to install but I had to do this manually (slow). Also once it is done, there shows up 17 different yes/no options. When I can only allow for 1 option to be selected at a time, not up to 17. Also it would be time consuming to do this for the 5200 products in the backend. How would I go about doing this the right way. When I look into the custom field option, it will not affect the prices as I would like it to.

Hi,
Can you give me more information about the issue that you are having, and about what you really want to do through some screenshots for example ?
Thank you.

Sorry, will not give screenshots. However from what I understand you would put custom fields for additional options in the products actual pages. But this will not work because you cannot adjust the price of the product with custom fields correct?

When I put additional product options as if they were a separate product, they then all show up in the page and we only want them to be able to select one at a time only.

1. Yes

2. If you use options, you'll have one dropdown per option, so that your customers can chose if they want to add or not the option.

We do not want one drop down per option, we want one drop down with 17 options, so that they can only select one.

The page is too cluttered with 17 spaced out drop downs. Also we cannot allow for more than one option to be selected.

Please advise, thanks!

Yes. Mohamed wanted to say that with options you can have one option (with X choices) per dropdown.
You can see an example of the use of options here:
demo.hikashop.com/index.php?option=com_h...ow&Itemid=91&lang=en
And here is the documentation:

Thank you very much, although I think the structure of how this is handled is sloppy ( it does work ).

I did however run into another issue where the characteristics in the drop down could not be ordered correctly.
even though they were ordered 0-17 in the characteristic setup page, they still found their way to be ordered incorrectly.
I checked the sql in the back-end and there was no reason for this. I thought it was possible that it was alphabetically ordering them, instead of by the order I told them in characteristic menu ordering.

Hi,

I just tried on my end and the characteristics are displayed in the define order.
You are talking about the variant dropdown on the product page, right ?

Have you set the order in Products > Characteristics ? And saved the ordering ?
