Desperately need assistance for setting up a shop

I have a simple shop - selling a few downloadable e-books and a few physical books.

My Checkout is as follows:
Login > Address > Cart > Payment

E-books should have 20% VAT (for all countries) and physical books do not have VAT - but they are charged a tax on postage costs (this is being set up in the manual shipping methods and described in the related issue mentioned above).

Tax was displaying correctly when I just had e-books, no shipping methods, and Simplified Registration (just email address)

But after adding the physical books, requirement for user to provide address, and manual shipping methods - the VAT is not being added to e-books , and the shipping costs for physical books is not being calculated correctly.

I am getting a bit desperate now, I have tried to configure this correctly for several weeks but I need some guidance.

I think what I require is possible in Hikashop - but I cannot seen to find the solution.

I have already sent login details to the site earlier and I am happy to send these details again.

A couple of observations:
1. The Tax seems to appear correctly IF the user is logged in to the site (say after a purchase of an ebook),
2. But, if a logged in user tries to go to the checkout he gets an error: "The page isn't redirecting properly"

1. You'll just have to create a 20% tax category through the "Product Tax category" option of your shipping method.

2. It's maybe a cache issue, can you disable the Joomla cache, and clear it ? You'll also have to disable it in the joomla config, and unpublish the cache plugin.

All the issues regarding tax and shipping costs have been resolved on the other post, thanks to you and Jerome.

The only remaining issue is numbered (2) in your reply:
a. If the user is already logged in, he cannot proceed to the checkout.
(User may already be logged in because he just purchased an item)

b. If he is not logged in, he can go to the checkout and at that stage login and proceed.

I have checked the 'system-cache' plugin and it has always been disabled.
The Global Configuration > Cache Setting > Cache is switched off.
(I also cleared the cache and expired cache)
I am running MijoSEF and it is configured to use 'Component's Router' when dealing with Hikashop URLs.

My Workflow is: Login > Address > Cart > Payment

Do you think this is the cause of the error message?

Because the user is already logged in the first step of the checkout workflow cannot be resolved?

I actually tried it with your SEF module turned off, and it worked fine, so I think that you should directly ask some help to MijoSEF.

MijoSEF also has a commercial plugin for Hikashop , I might try that.

I need SEF to work on the rest of the site, but the shop is OK to have longer URLs.
