Following your Lamguages documentation (PS now the link give me back: 404 - Category not found), I understood how to install Languages file, but, please, what about updating them ?!?:

1 - When I update my HikaShop also the Language files I have yet installed are updated automatically?

2 - If no, Have I to do it manually?

3 - How can I understand I have to update them? Is there any message that advice me?

4 - When I open the language file there is the button "Load the latest...", but this button seem to be always there. Does it check the laguage file is updated or not?!?

5 - Does HikaSerial (language files) work in the same way ?

Many Thanks for help on understanding

Hi,

1. No. It needs to be done manually.

2. Go in the Languages tab of the configuration and click on the edit icon of your language, and then on the "load latest from server" button and then save.

3. You should get a notification that your language file is not up to date if you go in your HikaShop configuration page, unless you clicked before on the "I know, don't remind me" link of the message.

4. No it doesn't. It's always there, even if you already have the latest version. That way, if you change the language file, you can always go back to the official latest version.

5. No. For HikaSerial, all the language files are included by default in the installation package so the are updated automatically, which is not possible for HikaShop as it has too many language files and that they are quite big and it would make the installation package too big.

Hi Nicolas,
in first of all Many Thanks for explanation!
Then:

1. "the language files included by default in the installation package" will be updated directly with HikaShop updates, right ?
Please, What are the languages included by default?

4. Anyway, using Overrides feature instead of change the language files there are no worries about language updates, right ?

Hi,

To update the language files you have to click on "load latest from server", if you want to change a translation or add a new one, you have to use the overrides part. That will not cause any problems when updating the language file.

You overrides will not be lost and the language file will be updated.

The language included by default is en-GB and it's the only one updated automatically when you update HikaShop.

For the other languages, you can include them thanks to the wizzard when installing hikashop, or via the language tab in the configuration. To update you have to click on "load latest from server".

Just to put in evidence a wrong message during Language installation:

- I installed a new language (Fr) on my joomla 3.2 installation
- I updated my HikaShop Business 2.2.1 to 2.2.3
- Then I went to: Configuration > Languages: and logically the French language was listed but not uploaded
- So, I click on Change French icon, it opened the popup, and clicked on "Load the last..."

The French language was uploaded and I saved, BUT instead to say me something like "the new French language has been uploaded"

HikaShop show me the message:

HikaShop is actually not translated in this language.
The English version will be loaded so that you can translate it.
Once you are done, don't forget to share your translation with the rest of the community!

Hi,

I am sorry but I couldn't reproduce your problem.
For the button "Save the last..." you mean "Load the latest version from our server" ?

Hi,

To load the language file, your server will make a connection with the HikaShop website in order to load the language file itself.
Maybe your server does not have the permission to make external connection with other servers.
Do you have the same trouble with HikaSerial ?

Hi Jerome,

1 - I cannot have the same issue on HikaSerial because in HikaSerial all languages are included in the package while in HikaShop only En is included, so I have to upload manually the others.;
2 - Hi have no problem on Load the language, infact the language was been loaded correctly;
3 - The "problem" is, as I tried to explain, with the message shown when I loaded the new language HikaShop detected I installed in joomla (Fr). While the languae was loaded a "wrong" message was shown:

HikaShop is actually not translated in this language.
The English version will be loaded so that you can translate it.
Once you are done, don't forget to share your translation with the rest of the community!

Hi,

This probably means that HikaShop was not able to save the language file in your joomla language folder because of the permissions of the folder. The simplest will be to manually download the language file on our website www.hikashop.com/download/languages.html and upload it via FTP to the correct folder as explained in that language download page.

But,

When I click "Load the last..." for the "new" language (HikaShop detected I had installed in joomla the new Fr language), the Language Fr is loaded, but

While the language Fr was loaded a "wrong" message was shown:

HikaShop is actually not translated in this language.
The English version will be loaded so that you can translate it.
Once you are done, don't forget to share your translation with the rest of the community!

Then, I clicked on "Save" and the Language Fr has been saved!
