Trying to add a variant to a new product with a different price, but NOT WORKING!

When we add a variant, with a different price than the default, only the default variant price shows, regardless of the version selected in the drop down menu, when you add it to the cart.

How do we get each variant to show with the correct price?

Followed instructions in your support documentation for selecting characteristics with 2 variants, but can't get each variant to show the corresponding price. Both show correctly in the prices section and in the manage variants section (correct prices with correct version), but when published, only the default version can be added to the cart.

That issue is typical of either a javascript error on the page, or a customization of the product page which wasn't done properly.
We would need a link to the page with the issue in order to tell you which one it is and be more precise on a potential solution.

Since the pages weren't working, they're not published. I've attached a screen print of the page. THANKS

If you need any further information, please let me know. For now, we created 2 separate products, but it would be much better to have them as a single product with a variation.

We set the product up exactly the same way as we did for our Beer Industry Update, which works perfectly. But that product was originally set up in the Basic version, and we've since upgraded to Essentials.

Thanks again

The upgrade shouldn't change anything.
We would really need to look at the issue on the page in order to determine the problem.

how can I show you the issue on the page if it's not published (and can't be published until it's showing the options and pricing correctly?)
Thanks

create a menu item of the type hikashop product page via the joomla menu manager and select that product for it. Also, set your menu item to be accessible only to special users and then provide us with a user account and a link to the page and we should be able to see it, while others won't.

the link to the development page is:

Joomla 3.2.1

You have one variant per combination of characteristics value. That way you can override the main product information for each variant.
If you click on the "manage variants" button of the product, you can enter a price for each variant.

From what I can see on your link, you don't want to use characteristics. You want to use instead options:
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...ct-form.html#options
That way, you'll only have 7 options and their price will be added to the main product automatically, somewhat like on that page:
demo.hikashop.com/index.php?option=com_h...ow&Itemid=91&lang=en

Hi,
You'll probably find your answer there .

By upgrading HikaShop you won't loose any information. It will just upgrade the files and add new columns in the database if required.
Your views overrides, css overrides, language, configuration, orders, products will stay intact.

But careful if you have modified directly an HikaShop file and you didn't use the backend interface for that. Because you could loose your modifications.

Making a backup is always a good security.

nicolas,

We have created the Menu Item with restricted access, but we also have a Available Products Summary page and when we publish the product, it will be displayed there for all customers to see. Is there any way around this?

You can change the ACL for the product itself and limit it to a specific group.
It should do the job :)
