-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3
-- PHP version -- : 5.4.4

I am using Joomla2.5 and planning to rebuild my site into a fully responsive one with Joomla3.3. While I check the latest performance of Joomfish vs Falang, I read from joomfish's forum that Joomla itself can handle "language" itself and has stop developing! I wonder if I should still install falang or I better read document on Joomla langauge to learn how "contentelement" is handled there (If it is. I am not sure).

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi,

Since Joomla 2.5, there is a native translation in Joomla.
So you don't need JoomFish/Falang to translate your content.
For Joomla content, you'll find information on how to do online:
www.slideshare.net/erictiggeler/creating...-guide-eric-tiggeler
For HikaShop, you would have to create one category tree for each language and then one product for each product for each language in the corresponding category. Then, create several menu items, one per language, and assign the corresponding category and the language switch will be done at the menu item level.
The issue with that method is that it's not practical.
JoomFish/Falang make it a lot easier to manage the translations of the content, specially with HikaShop content as we have an integrated translation interface if you turn it on in the Languages tab of the HikaShop configuration.
So I would recommend to use Falang.

Hello everybody...
I take this post to ask a related question about joomla / hikashop multilingual...
Somebody know if it's possible to use Joomla core translation (eg. with josetta) and use falang only for hikashop???

I've a website completely translated with josetta and now i want to install a shop. My choice will be hikashop but if it's not possible, i need to find another shop extension supporting joomla core translation.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

Yes that's totally possible.
Just install Falang and translate HikaShop content with it. You can still use the core system for Joomla content along Falang. They won't interfere together.
