does hikashop use jquery only

Do I need mootools to run hikashop or can I switch it off in Joomla 3.3?

We are removing Mootools progressively from HikaShop, but few things require it like the vote system.
But it's on our TODO list to edit the things which are currently using Mootools

I am unsetting mootools on my template but it gets inserted again by the hikashop content module.
In my case I don't use voting. Does anything else require mootools? How can I stop being re-inserted?

It is about 500kb on page load.

In the settings of HikaShop thanks to check if the popup mode is set on Bootstrap and not on Mootools, for the images you have yo use shadowbox and not mootools.
For the add to cart button, if you have the option popup enabled, it use Mootools.

So if you set your frontend options to not have mootools, you can cancel the load of Mootools, else it is still required.

In the backend mootools is still used at some places.

1 - For the Add to cart, I selected 'Always stay on the same page'. Should I at least get a system message to confirm the product has being added to the cart? I just want to confirm, if it should be should be coming app with a system message then it is a template problem that I will check.

2 - I have changed all the setting as you recommended, but the content module still loading mootools. Is there any thing I am missing?
Configurations/Display - Use bootstrap design: Yes, Popup Mode: Bootstrap, Use Chosen library: Yes, Image popup mode: Shadowbox (external), Add to cart: Alway stay on the same page.

We use Mootools too for the shipping / payment method selections, address changes in the user control panel.
So to really remove Mootools, you will have to edit many view.html.php files on the different views in order to make it working differently.

Some payment methods are using Mootools too for the redirect.

In the code you can search for JHTML::_('behavior.framework'); which is loading the Mootools library.

It require good PHP knowledges.

I will have to as mootools is causing me too much trouble.

I changed the address already, turned out I only had to change two files. so I created one template overrride for each.

Here are the files, see what you think. or if someone else wants to use. I think it is all that is needed for the payment and for the address.

You need to save it on templates/your-template/html/com_hikashop/checkout
