Virtuemart redirect appears not to work!

Hi,
I have switched on the plugin that is supposed to redirect the virtumart links but it dosent seem to work and we are getting loads of 404 and 403 errors because of the old VM links. As an example:

www.cubiclefittings.com/component/virtue...emart_category_id/15 is generating a 404 but the tables do contain id cross reference to the correct hika product

Any help please as I don't want to create several thousand 301's
