Hello,

Using an iPad you should be able to download HikaShop and install it in your Joomla website.
But for sure, it would be easier for you to use the automatic update system ; because there is a just button to click on and no file to upload.
In order to use the Joomla automatic update system, you need to be sure that your website is assigned to your (active) subscription :

Thank you for your reply. I can't download that type of file to the iPad and then upload it. The iPad won't store that type of file. So that method won't work on an iPad.

The automatic update system doesn't allow me to update thay way; it tells me I need to renew my subscription and download the file. My web site is assigned to my subscription of Hikashop Essential.

If I renew the subscription, will the automatic updater reappear in the back end? How will it know that I have renewed? Will it allow me to auto update with that one click?

Thank you

Hello,

Because you're license is expired you can't download HikaShop updates anymore.
So, yes you need to renew your subscription if you want to be able to use the automatic Joomla system ; as I told you in the previous message, it require an active subscription.

Well, I tried to make the payment using my VISA card, I entered my credit card information, on the page secure2.arcot.com, I clicked the button, then a blank page came up, the screen froze, so I don't know what they did with my payment. PayPlug is a dangerous security risk; they took my credit card information and did nothing. They now have my credit card information for no reason. That is scary.

I made the payment again using PayPal. My account on Hikashop now shows that I bought a new subscription to Hikashop 3.1.1. I have attached that subscription to my site, fireworksland.com and it shows in my account that it is attached to my site.

However when I go to the Hikashop administrator on my site, and click on Update/About, the automatic updater does not show. Instead, it simply says, "Please click here to download the latest version of Hikashop Essential and install it."

This is exactly what I was afraid of... that the Hikashop automatic installer button would not appear. This is what I specifically asked in my reply above: "If I renew the subscription, will the automatic updater reappear in the back end? How will it know that I have renewed? Will it allow me to auto update with that one click?"

And now I have made the payment, so I have an active subscription, and it is attached my site... but the auto installer button is not there in the Update/About section, as you stated it would be in your previous reply.

So this is a problem for me, and this is the entire reason I started this thread. Installing from an iPad. I am using an iPad, and I cannot download a .gz or a .zip file to it. You can't save those files to an iPad. And the auto installer button did not reappear even after I made the payment and attached the subscription to my site.

So how can I get Hikashop Essential 3.1.1 onto my site? How do I get the auto installer button back? I'm totally baffled and confused by this.

Hi,

As Jerome said, you need to use the automatic Joomla updater.
What you're talking about is the Update/About menu of HikaShop which is something else.
First, log on our website, then, on the same browser, log on your backend and go in the menu Extensions>Manage->Update
There, click on the "Find updates" button. HikaShop update should appear as available. Select it and click on the update button and it will run the update, without any download needed.

Thank you for your reply. I have done all those steps, all in the same browser window, all while logged in to the Hikashop site. Still no update available. See the attached screen shots. What else can I try to get Hikashop Essential 3.1.1 installed?

Hello,

The Joomla automatic update system uses the "Update Sites" that you can see in your first screenshot.
We will need to be sure that you right have the HikaShop update site in your list ; but because the link contains private details (a key), it will be better to continue privately via email.

OK, thank you for your help. I was able to install 3.1.1. I did it by downlading the .zip file on my Android phone, which saved it as a download, then using an FTP program I uploaded it to a different directory on my site. Then I used the Joomla extension installer to "Install from URL." It was a pain but at least now I have 3.1.1 installed. I could not have done it with the iPad alone.

I do have 3 problems with the installation, though.

(1) One problem is that the categories display on the default page of my site is supposed to display 3 categories in one row, and this is how it is set in the default menu item. But on the front end, the categries display in one column, not 3 going across in one row. See the attached screen shots 2, 3 and 4, which illustrate this or just go to fireworksland.com . the 3 categories should be in a horizontal row and that is what is set in the menu options.

(2) The second problem is that on a product page with more than 1 photo of the product, the small thimbnails are distorted. You can see an example of this at fireworksland.com/stores/product/1-alien-glow-in-the-dark-shirt

(3) The third problem is the most serious. The checkout process gets stuck at step 1. This was happening before the upgrade and this is the reason I came and bought the upgrade. On the page where the customer enters the email address, you enter an address and click the "Next" button. You simply return to the same page. Each time you click the "Next" button, you go right back to fireworksland.com/checkout/task-step/step-1
This happens on the page fireworksland.com/checkout and you can see this happen by adding any item to the cart and entering an email address. It is shown in the first screen shot attached. I don't know how to correct this so that the customer can continue through the checkout.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

1. You have that problem:
www.hikashop.com/forum/install-update/88...r-update.html#260059

2. You need to that CSS to avoid the problem:
img.hikashop_child_image {
width: auto;
}

3. You're still using the old checkout of HikaShop so it's normal that it still behaves the same.
If you want to use the new checkout of HikaShop 3, you should turn off the "checkout legacy" setting in the HikaShop configuration.
Also, the issue is that you have the "shipping" view in the "checkout workflow" setting of the HikaShop configuration, but no shipping methods are found. So there is a problem with how you configured your shipping methods.
Normally, in such case, HikaShop adds an error message on the page, but sometimes the template is not displaying the error messages and thus you don't ge the message on the page.
So first, check your template:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/6...tibility-issues.html
And then, you should get an error message explaining what's wrong with your shipping methods.

OK thank you, Nicolas, for your help. I have all these issues resolved now, except the shipping. I just have 2 questions about the shipping.

I only use USPS, and I have four USPS shipping options, to fet them in the correct order. The shipping options will not appear until the customer has entered their address. Then they appear and they are correct. So I believe the shipping methods have been set up correctly.

(1) On the first checkout page, I get the error message in red, "No shipping method found." See the first screen ahot attached.

Is there a way to suppress or turn off that error message? I don't want the customer to see that red message. I want the customer to choose a shipping method after they have entered their address. I could not find any setting for that. I am not sure what to do in the Checkout Workflow to get that message to disappear.

(2) Then, when they have entered their address, on the next page, can I add a line above the shipping options that says, "Choose a shipping method:"
See the second screen shot attached. This line would be below the addresses and above the list of shipping methods. Can this be done simply using a language override, or would some code for it have to be added to a view?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

1. You should change your checkout workflow to have two steps and have the shipping view on the step step and the address and login views on the first step. That way the shipping error message won't happen since it will already have the shipping address when accessing the second step.
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/2...eckout-workflow.html

2. You could edit the file "show_block_shipping" via the menu Display>Views and add your message at the top.

OK, thank you Nicolas. It is working, except I have one problem with the USPS plugin.

(By the way, just for your information... I was not able to change the Checkout Workflow using my iPad. I can't move the views around. Tapping or holding a view does nothing. I then used a library desktop computer to change the Checkout Workflow. A Dell computer running Windows 7 Professional. On that, I still could not get the views to move around, using Firefox 3.6.11. That would not work. Views would not move. I finally was able to do the Workflow using Chrome 58.0.3029.110. That browser allowed me to move the views around in the Checkout Workflow.)

The only problem left is that the USPS shipping method will only return prices for First Class Mail. I have 4 services selected: First Class Mail, Priority Mail, Express Mail and International First Class.

If the order weight is less than 13 ounces, I get the correct price for First Class, but I get no price for Priority Mail or Express Mail. So these options are not available to the customer who might want to get the product sooner.

If I add another product to the cart, and the total weight goes over 13 ounces, then First Class Mail is no longer available, it would have to go by Priority or Express. In that case I only get a red error message "no_shipping_quotes" and no prices.

My question is: Why is the USPS shipping method not giving me a quote for Priority Mail or Express Mail? I believe I have set it up correctly, using a brand new username from USPS. I have 4 services selected in the shipping method. I do not know how to tell what version of the USPS plugin that I have. This was a new install of Hikashop 3.1.1 just 3 days ago.

Thank you for your help.

If you have properly set "USPS WebTools User ID" and "Post code" options, your USPS shipping method should work correctly.
In fact, the USPS shipping plugin is only sending information about your order (product dimensions / weight, shipping address, ...) and then display shipping services returned from the USPS platform.

Changing the value of these options will probably help :
- Use product dimension
- Container ('Variable')
- First class mail type (usually 'parcel')

OK thank you Mohamed.

All I did was change the "Container" parameter from "Rectangular" to "Variable," and now it's working correctly. I did not change anything else.

There are still a few of my products that result in a shipping error when in the cart, but I will have to examine each product to see if the weight and dimensions are correct.

Thank you for your help.
