Hi guys,

At first i want to say i really like Hikashop!! :-)

I just bought the attach pdf plugin, it should be a default option in Business if you ask me :-)
Also the layout of the invoice should be more flexible.
An invoice is extremely important to be clear and from a trusted company.
Invoices that do not look good i do not trust at start (and i am definitly not the only one), feels cheap, scammy or bad service for me.

Same for the notification email.
Watch how Acymailing did that with the joomla notifications. Thats allot better (with flexibility, not especially the default design)
Create one theme and tags to ad them to the notifications would be great.

Feedback:
I know 'nerds' (im am a nerd to...) are not really interested in design but if i compare other webshop systems Hikashop is definitly build by programmers and not designers. And i create what designers are making where i work.
If you want to sell more subscriptions a better look is a must (if you ask me).
Woocommerce is allot less time because they already made beautifull design for products, lists, hovers, emails and so on.
I like joomla but for an easy shop i would rather use Woocommerce for those reasons.

I just bought the pdf in you webshop and watched every step, it looks cheap and messy, not good aligned and the payment choices are a really messy with design ;-)

Technical everything is great of Hikashop, but design is far behind in time if you watch all other site's and systems.
And the products listed and stuff i can design myself ofcourse so i do not talk about them.

Thanks for hearing me out here :-)

I wish you guys a great evening!

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.
You're right that HikaShop was built by programmers, not designers, and that's why it has a strong base but can be behind in terms of design.
The PDF invoice plugin could indeed do with some redesign as it was a crude design.

Now regarding the emails, I don't understand what you mean.HikaShop already have templates and tags for the emails.
If you edit one via the menu System>Emails, you can select the template in a dropdown, and if you look at the HTML version, you can see that it is filled with tags that you can move around for your needs. Now there isn't a tag selector, etc for the email edition interface and you need to know HTML in order to modify the email. Making it WYSIWYG, if that's what you're talking about is not impossible, but it's a lot of work. AcyMailing spent a year working on that WYSIWYG interface they are using, but it's for the main thing of their extension. The email notifications in HikaShop is only a small piece of the whole shop so spending so much work for that seems disproportiated. We'd better review the design of the whole shop in that time ;)

We are aware that the design lacks here and there. We've already worked on that already since 1 year ago.
For example, the dashboard has been totally redesigned to be nicer, the checkout and cart experiences have also been rewritten from scratch. The emails design has actually been changed 2 years ago as it had a really poor design before. I actually kind of link the new default design of the notification emails.

So there are still many things to be improved and we want to work on that.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for your great answer as usual :-)

I have to say the backend and the layouts are getting better and better!
The checkout is flexible so great but it cost allot of work because of the many options... (i know it is never good haha).

I did not thought it would be so much work for changing to a WYSIWYG editor.
Eventbooking does that for all there messaging and even pdf-invoice theming.
As far as i know it is Tuan only that works there but maybe he is the only one on the tickets ^^.
Take a look at how they does it is maybe a good way?

I think the power of joomla and Hikashop is the extremly many options. But WP with Woocommerce is so populair because it has less options and not difficult.
Making Joomla easyer than Wordpress and keep the flexibility could make Joomla great again!
But thats my vision, all diehard joomla users are most of the time so Nerdy that they like the options more...

I wish you a great day Nicolas and thanks for the great support!

Hi,

Well, it's always a trade off. Either you have less options and thus it's simpler and less flexible, or more options and less simple.
The goal is finding the right balance and having a solution adapted to your market.

Thanks for sharing. I've had a look at the messaging edition in Eventbooking. I see that they have sliced the emails in the different pieces with one WYSIWYG editor. Aso, they have the texts directly in the interface which then must be problematic for multilingual websites, while HikaShop email notifications are directly available in the different languages when you install it, but the drawback is that you can't edit the texts directly in the email edition interface but only through translation overrides.
I think we'll actually do a one WYSIWYG editor for the emails in the future, as it should be a lot nicer. We have a clear idea of what we want to do. The biggest problem is the links which are not valid for the editor and thus it breaks the code when trying to display the email HTML version. That will require some complex replace before the display and before the saving process so that the emails are displaying fine in the editor and are saved without the code being destroyed by the editor.
I could find the PDF theming you were talking about in there though so I can't comment.

Hi,

Thanks. The editor is empty on my end after the installation. Maybe something has to be done to have it filled in like on your screenshot. But at least I could see a bit of it with the screenshot.

Thats weird!
I use it on multiple sites and they work like a charm.
Although it keeps difficult to make a good design in html to pdf.

Thanks!
