Product stock updated on order created while configured to confirmed

Hi,

we've always had our Update the product stock on confirmed status set to Yes and this has always worked fine, only changing the stock after the order has been confirmed, but it appears this is no longer working.
We're not exactly sure when this started happening, but we updated to 3.2.2 earlier this week and noticed it today. We haven't changed anything in our configuration but all our stock is now already being decremented when orders are created even though it's not configured like that. Can you reproduce this issue?

see attached screenshots, though the setting "Clear cart when order is created" doesn't have anything to do with when product stock is deducted, right?

Orders have not been switched to Confirmed or Shipped or anything, everything works alright, the issue is just that product stocks are being deducted as soon as an order is Created, which has never happened before and shouldn't happen.

We opened a backup of our 3.2.0 website from a week ago and there everything works fine, now in 3.2.2 not anymore. So something appears to have changed, but we haven't touched or changed anything in our configuration, just updated HS.

We only want stock to be deducted when an order is Confirmed or Shipped (as has worked perfectly fine for years), not when they are Created. Thanks for your help.
