Joomla 4.0 roadmap

Hi!
I see many articles from developers stating they have worked on making their extension(s) ready for Joomla! 4.0
This weekend I will test some of these extensions with J! 4.0.0 Alpha 2 .

Will all hika components be ready on time when the 4.0 version will be released?

Can you please communicate about this so we can clearly understand what to expect from your side?

Hi,

We did already made changes to prepare for Joomla 4.0.
For example, in the change log for HikaShop 3.2.0:

We migrated from JRequest to JInput for the filtering of data in order to prepare for Joomla 4 and improve the compatibility with the latest versions of PHP 7.

That was actually one of the major issues to support Joomla 4.0 for HikaShop as it touches a lot of things in the inner workings of HikaShop.
Now of course, if you try to install the current version of HikaShop on the Alpha of Joomla 4, it won't work.

We've done some tests and were able to have a HikaShop running on the Alpha quite easily though.
So we're waiting a bit that Joomla 4 is a bit more finalized before working on it actively.
The Alphas are not yet stable enough for that. We'll work on that with the Betas of Joomla 4.

Hello Nicolas,

Reading your post above it would only take a very few days say weeks at least a very short time to have HikaShop (the same is true for HikaMarket I suppose) running smooth on J!4.0 stable.
... and there will probably be bug fixes releases of Joomla in the next weeks of its release, so all in all these are very good news...

Hi,

Yes, and all our extensions as based on the same "layer" so once we do the changes for one extension, it's easy to do them for the others, it's basically, copy/paste + tests :)
