-- Joomla version -- : 3.8.11

Hi all,
I'm using Hikashop since few years now, and I need to upgrade my old template.
I don't wanna stay with the same template makers, I would prefer to use one of the default template (Beez 5 or Atomic) and tune it myself but I'm not sure they are responsive ones.

Note : I'm an old and skilled integrator but sadly I don't have a lot of time for this project.

Do you think it's possible to use onde of the default templates to build de nice responsive site with Hikashop ?

Could you advise me some professional templates, even non-free, or free ones, that works very nicely with Hikashop please ?

Thanks by advance !

Brunus.

Hi,

The default templates of Joomla are responsive.
And yes, I do think it's possible to do what you want.
Then, on the "nice" end, the default templates are quite simple and don't have all the bells and whistles that club templates have. For example, if you want a one page layout like this demo.joomshaper.com/?template=onepage then it's gonna require some work with javascript / CSS to be able to achieve that from protostar, but it's not impossible.

I'm not a specialist on templates picking, and I didn't test most of the templates listed on our templates page:
www.hikashop.com/download/templates-for-hikashop.html
Most should work relatively well with HikaShop.

Hi,
Thanks a lot Nicolas !

I'll try first with the default templates.
I understand what you say about clubs templates, I was using one, by Joomal Bamboo, and it was not a good experience as an integrator.
I know it's a heavy task and you can't test all of the templates made for Hikashop but several templates on the demo page are now too old, hav no support anymore, not fullycompatible with PHP 7.x, needs side people frameworks (T3, K2, Gantry...) etc...not good...
I was hoping you culd point me one fresh, light and well coded template.
Perhaps it could be a nice move to provide one from Hikashop team, something basic with a good support over years.

I'll try "Basics" from FavThemes and if it's not suitable I'll go with one of the default templates.

Thanks again.

Hello,

I see several possiblity to try to fit your needs, the first is to, as you said to use a default template as Beez or Protostar, and to add some "HikaShop design plugin", I have in mind HikaShop Style (most for pick for color and have some css in order to have smoother looking) and some features like Popup display and cart slide .

There will be quite soon more display plugins from HikaShop but note that these features will be only effective on HikaShop page, for Joomla page maybe you can use our css command to extend them to other page in order to be more consistant.

The other solution, to quick test is to add some free template (so it's a free try), I think to Shoes from EngineTemplate.

But you can understand that unfortunatelly we can't spend time to test all template we list on our Template page but I'm quite sure that you can find among our Template page some template to fit your needs, but just hard to speak for your tastes and needs.
Hope this will help you to move forward.

Regards

Hi all, Hi Phillip

Thanks for your answers, I'll try the Hikashop plugins with Protostar template, it sound good to me.

"Shoes" is not a good template for my site.

I know you can't test all the templates listed on the template page but you should think about this :
- 90% of those templates are not for free and to just test it realy (not only surf a demo page) we have to pay for it...and loose money if the template is not the one we want to keep.
- 50 % of those templates are too old, obsolet, perhaps not fully compatible with last Joomla realase and PHP releases.
- 50% of those templates are based on extra frameworks...that means we have to care about : Joomla updates, Hikashop updates, the extra-framework update, the template updates...
- xx% of those templates are loading too much things coming from CDNs like Google fonts, extra JQuery releases, more JS etc...

Once again, I know you can't test all thoses templates...you need to understand also that it's petty difficult for us to choose between all the templates of the page while we also can't test it all...

Thanks again, I have my answers now, I'll try Protostar and plugins and if it's not suitable, I'll test "Basics" the template from FavThemes...hope I'll not loose my time like I did with JoomlaBamboo's templates...

Sincerely.
