-- HikaShop version -- : 4.3.0

Hi Hikashopteam,

We have an issue that some colors are automatically translated when showing the characteristics names at the front-end and the backend. But, some colors of products must remain in the original (English language).

We have issues with the colors:
RED
WHITE
BLACK

It seems that there are translations that are causing this now. But we cannot solve this with a language override because sometimes the color has to be written with a small letter and in other places with a capital letter. Is it possible to give the colors from Hikashop a more specific language string like HIKASHOP_RED, HIKASHOP_WHITE, etc.?

In that case our issue is solved.

Hope you can take a look.

Kind regards,
Lumiga

Hi,

You can do it the other way. In your characteristic values, instead of writing Red, Black and White, write MY_RED, MY_BLACK and MY_WHITE
Then, in your translation override file, you can add:
MY_RED="Red"
MY_BLACK="Black"
MY_WHITE="White"
And you can add that for all the languages in their translation override file so you'll get the english text for all the languages.

Oké id did what you supposed and it worked.

But sounds not like a good solution for all your clients.
If they sell, t-shits or everything els in the colors White, Black en Red they have to do that trick.

It's better that you will do one change in the code then 1000 of your clients in the future.

Hi,

I got your point.
We could indeed change that.
Now, I'm not sure it makes sense.
When someone enters "black" and they have a multilingual website, I would suppose they usually want that color name to be translated in each language. I would actually say this saves most of people a bit of time rather than the opposite.

I can understand your thought, but two different clients have complained about the translations.
Personally, I would like customers to decide whether something is translated or not.
Because in my cases the colors are brand colors and may not be displayed translated.
And why make an exception for only these 3 colors. I think that is confusing for the webshop owners.
