Characteristics dynamic display and Out of Stock

Hi Hikkashopteam,

We have setup the Characteristics dynamic display but we can't display out of stock products anymore.



As you can see, Black and White are not visible. So it's not possible for clients to use the waitlist.

Hi,

Well, the goal of that "characteristic dynamic display" option is precisely to remove the unavailable variants from the dropdowns dynamically so that they can't be selected.
So if you want them to be selectable, you want to turn off that option.

Hi Nicolas,

I would say that the option "display out of stock products" is not only for normal products but also for variants.

But if we turn of this "characteristic dynamic display" option then we have 2 issues we didn't had before.

1 - Unpublished variants are DISPLAYED (published) with the price FREE?

2 - When we have 2 volumes and 5 colors and one of the volumes is not available in a color that color is still displayed while we have not created that variant!!!!

Hi,

I would recommend to just use a translation override to change the text "free" so that it doesn't appear.
It's normal that the unpublished variants are selectable. That's because the value in the dropdown is needed for other variants of the product.
It's exactly what the "characteristics dynamic display" setting is solving, by preventing the selection of variants not available (either because they are not created, or not published, or don't have stock).

Hi Nicolas,

Change the text "free" is no option because we have sometimes free products.

So my issue was already present in the older versions, I understand from your answer?
Then the "characteristics dynamic display" is an improvement, thanks for that.

But I hope you will make an option for the "characteristics dynamic display" for displaying out of stock products so that clients can put them on the waitlist. Because it would make sense to me that the option "displaying out of stock products" and the wait list will also be possible for characteristics.

Hi,

Then set the price you want to be displayed when the variant doesn't exist in the main product and the system should use it instead of finding no prices at all and thus displaying the "free" translation.

Yes, in older versions, you already had exactly what you have now when you turn off the "characteristic dynamic display" setting.

But yes, it's a good idea to leave the variant selectable if out of stock and the waitlist feature is activated. We'll add some code modifications to handle that in the next release.
