Hi,
a. I don't agree with that change. Many countries have long names that people usually don't use and a shorter common version.
If we were listing France with République Française (which is the official long name), no one would find it in the dropdown as any french person would search for their country at the F letter (the countries are ordered alphabetically). So we decided to use the small name there to make it simpler for users, even if it is less accurate.
b. That's a good point. We'll remove it from the list.
c. That's also a good point. We'll add it to the list.
d. We update the list whenever someone notifies us of a change. We can't keep track of administrative differences everywhere in the world as we're not experts in that field. So we rely on people from there telling us if something is wrong/missing.
The list was compiled first 10 years ago from different sources and we're updating it little by little.
For example, we've recently added Kosovo and we've added a few missing states to Iran (as they were created a few years back) and we're removing the UK from the Europe tax zone in the next release.
e. And yes, in the mean time you can change things on your end. If you delete a zone, HikaShop will add it back when you update/reinstall HikaShop. So you should only disable/modify/create zones. In these cases, updates and reinstalls won't change your modifications.
f. If you add zones yourself, if will add zones with the same zone_id in the future, you won't get these new zones. So you might miss a few of them. But otherwise, yes, you will get new zones we add in the future.
Thanks for your feedback !
