after update some product were unpublished, some prices were gone

-- HikaShop version -- : 4.5.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.10.6
-- PHP version -- : 7.4.28

Hi,

After updating Hikashop 4.3.0 to 4.50 there were some unexpected changes in the product details.

Some products suddenly were unpublished, some product prices were gone, some stock was set to zero.

I am very surprised, apparently the update changed some dbase data.
What could be the cause?

Hi,

There is no such mechanism in the update system.
Could it be some mass actions setup on your end having side effects ? Or maybe some CSV auto import with the HikaShop product cron update plugin ?

There is no mass actions or CSV auto import.

I took another look and it only seems to affect old products.
We started using Hikashop almost 9 years ago, the first version was 2.2.2. And then products were imported from Virtuemart which we used before.

Could it be that the dbase entries of old products are different from the current standards and therefore are affected by updates?

Hi,

No, the data of the products is the same in the database, whether they come from VM or not.
I don't see what it could be.
Do you maybe have custom plugins or third party extensions integrating with HikaShop ?

Hi,

We use an extension for online payment, (cciDEAL), plugin for a newsletter (Acymailing), several plugins from the marketplace (2x Myparcel, sitemap), a custom plugin for connection with Moneybird accounting.

It would be a surprise if one of them could be causing the problem.

Hi,

Well, I doubt it would be coming from the cciDEAL plugin or AcyMailing or MyParcel or SiteMap.
I also doubt it would come from HikaShop itself. First, no one else reported the issue, and second, there is no code which could lead to that in the update system.
I can't say anything on the custom plugin since I don't know its insides at all.
So the mistery is still there.

Hi,

Perhaps the cause is a rare phenomenon I've noticed before after updates, not only regarding Hikashop, but also regarding other Joomla extensions and plugins. Sometimes a setting is still there but is ignored after an update.

For instance a setting ON is ignored after an update. To make it effective again you have to safe it again, or first set it to OFF, save, and reset it to ON and save again.
