Google is recommending to migrate from Google Analytics to Universal Analytics.
Is a HikaShop Universal Analytics plugin in the development plan? Roughly when could we expect this?

Thanks
Max

Hi,

It is written in the google website that the code for Google Analytics is compatible with the code for Universal Analytics.
So the current google analytics plugin should work without any problem with Universal Analytics.

Hi Jerome,

In fact we would like to switch the whole site to Universal Analytics tracking code but we are not sure whether a mix of UA and GA tracking codes would work.
I agree with you if we stay all in GA tracking code it would still work until Google stops backward compatibility.
But a plugin Hikashop Universal Analytics is more a matter of when rather than if, as Google will stop backward compatibility eventually.

Have you found somewhere in the documentation that mixing UA (for the site) and GA (for ecommerce transaction) tracking codes would work?

Max.

After a week of testing we can confirm now that Hikashop Google Analytics Ecommerce tracking plugin is not compatible with Google Universal Analytics tracking code.
Additionnaly the new Enhanced Ecommerce reports are quite interesting.

And here is the documentation:
For Ecommerce tracking: developers.google.com/analytics/devguide...nalyticsjs/ecommerce
For Enhanced Ecommerce tracking: developers.google.com/analytics/devguide...s/enhanced-ecommerce

I would suggest to directly start with a plugin Hikashop UA Enhanced Ecommerce.
Can it be added into the todo list for next version?

Thanks!

www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...ashop-changelog.html

The HikaShop analytics plugins now supports "Universal Analytics" with also the "Measurement Protocol" to track the sales even if the order is confirmed in a payment notification

Hi,

The HikaShop Analytics plugins support the Ecommerce tracking
developers.google.com/analytics/devguide...nalyticsjs/ecommerce

The "Enhanced Ecommerce Web Tracking" is different and should not be used in the same time than the "ecommerce tracking".
developers.google.com/analytics/devguide...s/enhanced-ecommerce

The plugin already support 3 modes (google analytics, universal analytics and the measurement protocol).
Before starting to write another mode in the plugin, I prefer to be sure that the three other modes are working fine for everybody.
Because adding the enhanced ecommerce web tracking will add 2 new modes in order to support the universal analytics and the measurement protocol versions.
As you understand, it is a pretty big development and it requires some time and a lot of tests ; I already spent some time to rewrite the analytics plugins to integrate the two new modes and I did it during my free time (for free) ; I'm currently quite busy with my current developments for my products, so no, the development is not planned for a short delay.
