Hello

When trying to share a product with social plugin, it seems like :
- the meta are not used in the sharing data : is it possible to add open graph tags and meta tags automatically to product page ?
- meta keywords and content are taken from main website if meta fields are not displayed in hikashop form : is it possible to have a default meta for hikashop somewhere ?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks to enable the plugin "HikaShop Microdata on Product Page plugin".
This should add the desired meta data on the product pages.

This plugin was already enabled but it does not extract any data to add to the head tag.

We only have default meta keywords and desc from the main website.

Even if meta tags are not filled in the product template, the plugin should extract first lines of description, title, image, type and add main keywords from hikashop default tags

dont you think so ?

Hi,

The social networks plugin will add opengraph tags in the head of the page if the facebook button is activated based on the data of the current product.
The meta data tags on the page will be filled automatically by HikaShop. Title is filled automatically; meta description uses the product's meta description; keywords uses the keywords of the products. If you want these to be filled automatically, simply turn on the option "Automatic product keywords and metadescription filling" of the SEF section of the configuration (only since HikaShop 2.3.2).
So all your talking about should already be done by HikaShop.

Hi Nicolas,

Ok I understand how the open graph are added to the page.
However meta tags are not changed which means that the product page still shows the default meta tags (and not og) from the main website.

If we use add this to share the product page, I am not sure that it uses the og meta at least not on our pages.

Further we noticed errors on Facebook open graph debugger :
For instance we get :
Object at URL ' activ-ha.com/shop/product/5-megane-cabriolet?fb_locale=fr_FR ' of type 'website' is invalid because a required property 'og:title' of type 'string' was not provided.

Could it come from the accented characters in french ?

So would it be possible to :
- replace the product page default meta tags to map the micro data open graph tags generated by hikashop ?
- correct the open graph problems with Facebook debugger ?
- check implementation of add this so that it uses all the meta generated by the page ?

Thanks

Hi,

1. I don't understand what you mean by "replace the product page default meta tags to map the micro data open graph tags generated by hikashop". Microformat attributes/tags are added directly in the body of the page where the information is. Meta data is added in the header of the page. opengraph tags are also added to the header of the page but for different information than meta data. So I don't see what you want to replace with what since they are different things which can't be replaced by one another.

2. I checked your pages and the og:title tag is already there. It looks like a problem of the facebook linter with the gzip compression:

So turning off the gzip compression in joomla/your server configuration should avoid the problem.

3. The meta tags are already used by add this.
