Hi,

I'm using HikaShop essential on a multilingual site with Hebrew and English. I've setup Hikashop in Hebrew at first and now I'm working on translating it to English. I've successfully installed Falang and all Hikashop fields are showing in the component list. I've enabled the "Activate the edition of content in multiple languages" and the "Translation published by default" under the language settings.

I've made an attempt to translate one of my products categories and the result was not promising. The translation did not show up at all:
In this link you can see one of my categories in Hebrew:
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/he...9%D7%9D/category/13-

In this link you can see the same category but in English:
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/en/products/category/13-

Second issue is when I try to go back from a specific product to the category using the breadcrumbs. For some reason it's showing me a blank page!!!
You can see an example both on the Hebrew and on the English site:
Here (Hebrew):
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/he...99%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%A8

Here is the product page I tried to go back from using breadcrumbs:
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/he...A7%D7%95%D7%99%D7%9C

And here (English):
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/en/products/coil-cleaners

Here is the product page I tried to go back from using breadcrumbs:
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/en...il-cleaners/gab-coil

This issue happens only when I go to a specific product directly from a menu item that was defined as "Product page" and is linked to one of my products.

Third issue I'm facing is how to translate custom fields I've added to my products. I've got at least 4 custom fields for each product and this fields are not showing up in Falang.

Sorry for the long post but I will appreciate a quick response.

Regards,

Guy.

Update: After much reading and digging Google I've found a way to manually add the custom fields to Falang XML so I can now translate them. So, you can scratch off the third issue. One down, two more to go.
BTW, is there an option to add the flags of translation to the custom fields in Hikashop just like in the product description so my client could edit the translations directly from the product?

See attached image of the flags I'm talking about.

Hi,

1. The translation of your category do show up in english:
take.ms/n2M12
Maybe you had some caching which prevented you from seeing the translation ?

2. It's probably a problem caused by the ids missing in the URLs and the fact that the text in the URL is in hebrew. Try to change the option "remove categories and products ids from URLs" in the configuration and see if that helps. It could also be a problem of the "sub element filter" option which you can try to set to "all sub elements" in the configuration.

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for the fast response.

1.Yes, the products names are being translated. And so does the products themselves. But, the category's descriptions are not being translated. Please see attached screen shot.

Update:
I've discovered just now that when I enter the category via the main products page:
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/en/products
the translation appears:
gurtech.guywalderonline.com/index.php/en/products/coil-cleaners
But something is REALLY messed up here. The first product "coil-cleaners" works fine but all the others get "category" added after "products" in the url and then the translation does not appear. If I set "Remove products and categories id in URLs" to yes "Tube Cleaners" stops working....

Found the source of the bug/feature. I had change the menu item pointing to the categories to something else, save it and then I had to manually assign the menus, in HikaShop menus page, to each category all over again for some reason. You should check this thing out as I believe I've stumbled over a bug...

2. I've tried to enable "Remove products and categories id in URLs" (it was off) but it made no difference. As for "sub element filter", I tried that as well, no change. It must be related to the fact that my menu items which are set to "Products listing" and not clickable as well and I didn't find a way to fix that as well (Please see second screen shot).

Update: This problem was solved along with the fix in part one.

3. Any suggestion regarding this -> BTW, is there an option to add the flags of translation to the custom fields in Hikashop just like in the product description so my client could edit the translations directly from the product?

Thank you again,

Guy.

Hi,

See the HikaShop language configuration
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...onfig.html#languages
With HikaShop essential, you should have this option to edit directly the product in several languages (with Falang).

Hi Jerome,

I think you misunderstood what I was asking in my last question.
After I've enabled the multilingual option each product and category description got additional flags at the top of the WYSIWYG to manage the translations.

My products are comprised of many custom HTML fields which must be translated as well. As for today, in order to translate a custom field I need to do it via FaLang's interface.

My question was, is there a way to add the translation flags to other fields as well? In my case, to the custom fields.

Please see attached image with one of my products back-end for example. The flags are marked by a red box and the custom fields are marked with a red arrow.

Thank you,

Guy.

Hi,

We don't have that possibility for now. The custom fields have to be translated via Falang.
That's something we would like to do in the future.
