Hi, thanks for a great service and a good product.

My question is, I am thinking about starting selling subscriptions.

And specifically product subscription, example: buy razor and then get razor blades every month and so on...

I have read and I am very unsure if Hikashop can handle this properly. So far, it seems that I should install Emerald or Akeeba Subscriptions (this ones seems easy to understand and install but development has stopped and support).

However, with Emerald, does it handle product subscriptions? It seems to me, so far I understand that it, Emerald subscribes a user so he is allowed to see hidden pages of the site (articles, products and so on). But it really doesn't handle lets say a normal razor and blade subscription. It just handles access to certain pages and similiar.

Let me be specific of what it is I want:

1. I sell a razor for lets say, 50$.

2. And then every month the customer should get billed 20$.

3. And every third or second month I send out a "refill kit" with blades and cream and so on... (or more specifically a 3PL does it).

* To handle this in back-end, I would require a new order to automatically be created and notified about it for every shipment.

And if possible it would be good to have customers able to login somewhere in front-end to "pause" the subscription, view shipment history or see upcoming shipments.

Of course it doesn't have to be razor and blade, it could be magazines. Just an example. But is emerald the way to go for this or should I look somewhere else?

Best Regards,

Hi,

The integration with Emerald doesn't support that.

The integration with Akeeba Subscription supports recurring payments like you want so that the customer gets billed every month with an order automatically created in HikaShop.
So that's the only solution available with HikaShop.
With Emerald, it would require modifying the PayPal recurring payment plugin we provide:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/1...a-subscriptions.html
so that it would work with Emerald.

Thanks for answer, when you release HikaShop 3, will Akeeba Subscriptions still be integrated with Hikashop?

Hi,

Note that Emerald are currently working on integrating with the recurring system in HikaShop:
www.hikashop.com/forum/payment-methods/8...ecurring/253694.html

Supporting a solution we didn't develop would be a lot of work as we would loose of lot of time figuring out what is where and why. It would be easier to develop our own subscription solution.

I just wanted to add I am watching Emerald integration, as I have a customer currently running Hikashop and we would like a subscription/membership solution. A Hikashop built in solution would be great as well.

Hi,

A Hikashop built in solution would be great as well.

Yes ; it would be great and it is still in our big TODO list.
We are still very busy with the development of HikaShop 3.x but we hope that we will be able to launch new projects once that big development will be completed.
