Hi,

how can I add a PDF as attachement to the order creation notification template? As you know for sure, the new EU laws for online sale will be effective date next month. And as you know too, we have to attach a revocable form at the notification mail to the customer.

So it would be nice if you could tell me a function on how to attach a PDF at the notification. Or do you make an update before the 13.6.2014 which will do all the changes that are required from that date on including the possibility to attach documents at notifications?

Hi,

In the business edition, you can reach the email edition via the menu System > Emails, and in these options you can attach files to the email. ;)

Oooh nice, but I don't have the business version and I won't pay 50€ only for an email attachment. I know that there are some more features, but I don't need them.

So, can you give me a code snippet for attaching a file to the noticification, please.

P.S To avoid missunderstanding:
I want to add permantly 2 attachments to the notification, they are always the same and never change.

Such code customization will cost more than 50 euros if you ask a developer to do them for you.
On top of that, you get plenty of other features with it.

As I said before, your super duper other features from the business version are useless for us and I don't pay for useless stuff. Do you?

Does the email feature in the business version save the settings for the attached files or do you have to attach them for new on every send?

P.S This email feature (templates editable and accessable from the backend) is an essential feature in my opinion and it's ridicolous to offer this only in the top version. But hey, you know how to make money and that's the only reason why you do it this way.

Plotec,

I'm just another user here like yourself, but I need to comment on your post here.

It's seemingly the - meanwhile - typical mentality behind website building: get a free CMS and as much as possible other free stuff, a template for 40 bucks, maybe some extensions for another 100 if absolutely necessary, then expect to have a proper, complete website with every thinkable function and feature on it, ready to make the site owner millions himself.

It doesn't work that way.

Like everywhere else around you, extra functions and features cost extra money. You have it with cars, household stuff, even food and clothes. Are you running around complaining about it to everyone you buy stuff or services from? That would make a pretty miserable life, eh?
Do you give your work away for free? I don't think so.

You said consciously "yes" to the Essential version of HikaShop, and knowingly "no" to Business. You even have an fair offer to upgrade. But no, you're not happy with that, you want other people to work free for you.

Think about it. And do not accuse people for making money out of their work... just as you do.

Case closed for me.

It's not the point to get something for free. The point is that a absolutely simple but essential feature, namely email management is bundled with the business version. It's essential to have the possibility to setup an attachement for a notification mail. Especially as the european law from june, and in Germany for some years, requires you to send some documents to the customer when buying.

For what audience is the essential version then? For private to private sales? That's the only way you can use it because you can't fulfil common law. That seems to be the intention of the developers because they can force the customers to buy the business version that way, with the hint to some other extended (useless) features.

In my opinion it's not honest to assembly a package that way.

Well, right off I can see a few solutions that might work for you.

1. Add the information from the pdf directly to the order confirmation email template.

2. Email the user the pdf after the order is placed.

3. Add the pdf as a link or add the content of it to a step in the checkout process (2 instances of Terms and Conditions in the flow?).

I've built numerous ecommerce sites on Hikashop and there is one thing I can say with conviction these guys have put a lot of time and effort into making a comprehensive online shop solution, they also provide outstanding online support - there are a lot of other options out there but if you want the "Real Deal"... this is it. Pay for it and appreciate the beauty of the system - developers need to eat too!

Cheers
