Notification Emails and Product Characteristics

Hi, I've been searching the forums and have found nothing that can help me with this:

I would like to display the selected products characteristics in the payment confirmation email when someone makes an order (the products are shoes and the characteristics are the various shoe sizes). I would like to see the shoe size selected as well as all the information that is already there (product number, name, address, etc.).

How can I add that information (product characteristic) to the confirmation email that the seller receives?
