Loads of question marks after country name

This was annoying in desktop. In mobile is a total pain! How do I get rid of the names in () after the country names? The extra names that display normally are annoying enough; ??????????????? is just plain silly.

Please check your zone configuration.

It looks like you performed some modifications in your database and you changed the collation (and break in the same time all names using UTF8 characters).

As you can see, when the database is not corrupted, the names are correct, in the backend and in the front-end :

(the front-end link require a product in the cart and you have to go in the second step to see the "registration")

Actually, I haven't modified the database at all. It was fine in version 2.3.5 (I think that was the old HS version) and it's become corrupted while installing 2.4 then 2.5 over it.

I'm disappointed that I'm being blamed for it. Not wonderful support...

Updating HikaShop won't cause that problem. That's not possible. Install the 2.3.5 install package on your website and you'll see that you'll still have the problem.
The question marks are displayed when the collation of the table has been changed in the database. We're not blaming you but just stating a fact. It can happen when websites are backed up/restored, databases are copied from one server to another, etc.

The simplest solution is to empty the hikashop_zone and hikashop_zone_link tables via your phpmyadmin and install HikaShop again (whichever version). That should put back all the default zones with the proper names. If that doesn't help, do the same but instead of emptying the 2 tables, delete them completely before the install.
That however means that you'll loose any zones that you had created so far and you'll have to recreate them and reselect them in your configuration, the shipping/payment plugin (if used), etc.
