Hi everyone,

I need some help figuring out a solution for a new website I'm working on. The client has asked that I set up a method that allows their delivery drivers the ability to log into the website and change the status of the orders that they have delivered. They want each of their drivers to be able to log into the website using an Ipad while out making their deliveries and update the status of the order they just dropped off from been "shipped" to "delivered". Additionally, they also want to have a method of been able to assign every order that gets placed on the website to a specific delivery driver so that when the driver logs onto the website he/she is given a list of all the deliveries that they need to make as well as the power to update the order status. the client wants it so that an office worker can have access to view all the orders and assign each order to each driver.

The reason for this is that the current pen and paper system is starting to become an issue and they want to make everything electronic for better management. The client runs a laundromat that has a set list of items that won't change and the pricing and delivery fees are not going to be added to the website. They just want to have clients log-in, place an order, then an office worker will assign that order to a driver who then logs into the website each day to find out what items he/she needs to deliver.

The client currently has two drivers. One who covers the local orders and another driver who does all of the regional deliveries. So as long as the client has the ability to separate these orders into two different lists and give each driver access to their own list of deliveries, that would solve that part of the problem. I still need to figure out if there is a way that I can give each driver the ability to change the status of the orders that they've delivered without seeing the orders of the other driver. Some kind of filter system would also work.

I believe that I can set up different administrator access in the backend of Joomla but it would be preferred that the drivers only have front end access.

I understand that HikaShop may not be able to do all of this and I haven't been able to find any solutions myself. But any ideas, solutions, examples, tutorials, or suggestions on how I could do any of this would be fantastic. I am happy to buy extra extensions for the website if I know for a fact that It's going to do exactly what I want. The client has also put a strong emphasis on making sure that managing the website is as easy as possible.

Any and all help would be a huge help.

Thanks!

Hi,

HikaMarket will be appropriate for your request.

With HikaMarket front-edition ; you can manage your store directly from the front-end like if you were in the HikaShop backend (but with a lot of ACL so you can choose what can be edit or not).

The second version, HikaMarket multi-vendor also provide the front-end edition but it includes the support of several vendor.
Each vendor have his own orders and can only see them ; a vendor can change the order status of his vendor orders which will impact the main order (change his status and notify the client if required).
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/1...or-presentation.html

HikaMarket multi-vendor support the "sales repository" mode where a client can choose dynamically his vendor or the vendor can be selected thanks to the user address. It is also possible to implement your own algorithm for the vendor attribution while the order is created.
But for the moment, HikaMarket do not allow the vendor to be select afterwards. It is something that we can add in our TODO list but I won't be able to give you any schedule for his implementation.

Thanks Jerome for your help.

So your recommendation for my problem would be the HikaMarket multi-vendor?

I've had a look at the demo and the documentation, and it looks like it will do the what I need but I just have a few questions.

At what part of placing an order does the customer select what vendor they want to use for their order? I read that you can limit 1 vendor per order and that you can add in an option to manually select one but when does this happen?

Would it be possible for the vendor to be automatically assigned based on the shipping address? and if so, how would this be done? I saw in the demo that there was an option for vendor zones but what measurement is used to configure this? can HikaMarket automatically select the vendor based on postcodes or street address? My client only delivers to a small area and not interstate or internationally.

Can an administrator manually assign a vendor to the order after it has been placed by a customer?

Does buying HikaMarket extend the duration of an existing subscription for HikaShop?

Thanks again for your help with this!

Hi,

At what part of placing an order does the customer select what vendor they want to use for their order? I read that you can limit 1 vendor per order and that you can add in an option to manually select one but when does this happen?

If you're using the "vendor selector" feature ; you can use an "order" or an "item" custom field.
The order custom field will make the vendor assignation on the global order ; the item one will just target the product.

You can have several vendors per customer order ; that's not a problem at all.
For each vendor, HikaMarket will create one sub order so the vendor is able to just see and interact with his own content.

Would it be possible for the vendor to be automatically assigned based on the shipping address? and if so, how would this be done?

Yes, like I wrote in my previous message.
The feature "vendor location / vendor zone" allow you to affect a vendor to an HikaShop zone. So the minimum area for that feature is a state.
Otherwise it will require a custom plugin with your own algorithm, like I also wrote in my previous message.

Can an administrator manually assign a vendor to the order after it has been placed by a customer?

As explained in my previous message:

But for the moment, HikaMarket do not allow the vendor to be select afterwards. It is something that we can add in our TODO list but I won't be able to give you any schedule for his implementation.

Does buying HikaMarket extend the duration of an existing subscription for HikaShop?

HikaMarket is an add-on for HikaShop, developed by a different team ; it does not provide any feature of HikaShop commercial editions or interact with HikaShop licences.
