VAT value in orders

Just for your interest. Maybe it will help for someone who have the same issue.
I have a custom billing plugin which takes the VAT value from the order_products->order_product_tax_info->tax_rate which works fine while a customer order something, but when a modification happens the product doesn't get the tax_rate value, so my invoices got no tax value.
I made a walkaround like if it's not set then give the usual percentage value, but if there are more vat values in a shop can be a problem.
