Blank page after iDEAL checkout

Since a few days the checkout function is no longer working. At first we got some 500 internal server errors. After checking all settings of Joomla and Hikashop the 500 interal server error was no longer displayed after checkout but I get only a blank screen.

Everything else on the website seems to be working fine. It goes wrong right after you press next after choosing for the iDeal payment method.

Error log shows this message:

It seems that the iDEAL plugin doesn't support the newest version of hikashop. Can i go back to hikashop 2.0.0?

Sure. Install the package of the 2.0.0 that you used to install the 2.0.0 on top of your HikaShop and it will downgrade HikaShop.

So i've now downgraded hikashop to version 1.5.8 of which i'm 100% sure it's supported by the iDEAL plugin. But it still doesn't work and gives me the blank screen after clicking on next.

I've also tried using the hikashop paypal plugin and the bank transfer plugin both of which give me the same problem: A blank page after clicking next.

So I'm thinking the problem is not with the check out plugins but with something else. Any suggestions?

When trying to update to 2.2.0 again it gave a blank page again. Then i went to the previous page and click on the hikashop module and then it said "Installation succesfull" so i think it worked but still gave me a blank page.

If you get a blank page when you update it probably means that there is an error during the database structure update. And if the database structure is not correct, it's possible that some important functions of HikaShop don't work properly.

Turn on the "error reporting" and the "debug mode" options of the joomla configuration and try again.
Instead of a blank page, you should see an error message telling you why you get the blank page.

even with debug mode on and error reporting set to maximum I don't get any errors after trying to update to 2.2.0, it just shows a completely blank screen. I'm afraid I have to completely reinstall hikashop from scratch.

If you still get a blank page, it means that your server is configured to force the non display of errors.
You need to see that with your hosting company. Also, the errors are logged in the PHP error log of the server so you can look for the "fatal error" errors at the end of that log file to get the errors.

If you delete the tables of HikaShop and do a fresh install, that will indeed make sure that the database structure is ok, but you would have to reconfigure everything in HikaShop...

The thing is that i'm only selling one item in the webshop. (Tickets for an event) so i'm thinking that the fastest solution for now is to just reinstall from scratch. Because then i'm sure it should work again.
