I use the iDEAL payment method using CCiDEAL platform. This API is made by Chill Creations and uses your API.

I have the following problem. A dutch company wants to use the webshop to order goods for their Belgium store. So the invoice address is in The Netherlands, the shipping address is in Belgium (but could have been France or Spain or whatever). They want to use iDEAL but this is not possible. I restricted the use of iDEAL to the zone Netherlands. I expected this calculated with the invoice address in mind, but it looks like it uses the shipping address. Can you confirm this and if so, why?? ;-)

Hi,

The "Zone" parameter of payment methods uses the shipping address and if not present the billing address in order to apply the restriction.
It's the same code which is used for shipping methods so that's why it uses the shipping method.
We couldn't find any particular reason to use the billing address instead of the shipping address for the payment method zone restriction and I still don't see why we should do that.
The best way to make sure that the user is giving his correct address and not trying to cheat the system by providing a fake address is to base yourself on the shipping address since it is necessary that he provides his correct address for the delivery, while he can enter anything in the billing address and it won't matter.

I don't agree with you because payment has everything to do with the location of the one who pays. Besides world wide payment methode like Creditcard and Paypal there are a lot of payment methods restricted to one or more countries. iDEAL is for The Netherlands, Sofort is mainly Germany, et cetera. So it would be nice to show customers the payment methods which applies for their country. But it's not a big deal, when you see a list of payment methods, you will only select the ones you know.... So, discussion closed :)
