Hello,

I really appreciate your help on this.
I want to implement credit card payment, but I am not quite sure how credit card payment accually works. Please could someone give me a brief explanation? (PayPal and Whire transfer are working fine on my shop.)

Which plugin do I need to Use in order to enable Visa & MasterCard credit card payments? (we are located in Spain and have only spanish customers) - If there are several, which do your recommend?
Does it matter wich bank I have? (My bank is Triodos Bank)
Do I need to have https in order to offer CreditCard Payment? Or can I redirect the customer to an external site as it works with PayPal?

Thank you so much for yoru help!

Best!

Hi,

If you want to accept credit cards on your website with the credit card form on your checkout, you will indeed need a SSL certificate on your website (and make sure that your website is PCI-DSS compliant.

But you can also accept credit cards on your website with a credit card form on an external site after the checkout. Do you know that PayPal already offers the possibility for your customers to pay by credit card ? So in that case, it would actually be something you already have. Nevertheless, yes, you can use another payment gateway in order to offer credit card payments on your website. It could be an international one like CardSave or 2Checkout (for which payment plugins exist for HikaShop) or it could be one provided by your bank (in which case there might or might not be a payment plugin). So you could contact your bank and ask them what payment gateway they support for online sales and see if a payment plugin exist for it. Usually, your bank will have lower fees than PayPal which can be quite interesting.

Nicolas,

I know that I do not need to have an SSL certificate on my site in order to use PayPal Standard. But, I am thinking that in order to use PayPal Pro iI would require an SSL certificate. Can you confirm is that is true? I am building ourselves a site now where I am considering using PayPal Pro in order to simplify the checkout process.

Is making sure my web site is PCI-DSS compliant something that I would have to do with my host. I have allowed my host to set up SSL certificates before. Is that where the PCI-DSS compliant issues are taken care of?

Thank you very much for your responses!

Sean

Hi,

The plugin "paypal pro" ask for the credit card details directly in the HikaShop checkout ; so yes it will require an SSL certificate.
And it will be the same for every payment plugin where the customer has to enter his credit card details during the checkout.
