By default, the IPN is sent automatically. There are actually two options which can remove it in the settings screen of the PayPal payment method.
If you turn on the enable validation mode, the IPN will still be sent but you'll first need to validate each payment on your PayPal account. So you might think that the IPNs are not sent after the payments when in fact the issue is that the payments are not validated automatically on PayPal's end.
If you turn off the allow automatic notifications from PayPal option, HikaShop will ignore the IPNs received from PayPal.
If both options are configured properly and you don't get the IPNs, it means that something else on your website/web server is blocking the IPNs from reaching HikaShop and I would encourage you to follow this FAQ:
