Paypal Pro breaks on Firefox and other browsers

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6 Essential
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.5
-- PHP version -- : 5.4.39
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : firefox 42 mac

We got over 10 complaints about customers unable to finish the checkout using Paypal Pro plugin. On testing, I found that Paypal Pro worked on Mac Chrome/Safari but broke on Firefox. No errors were shown; the cart simply emptied when clicking checkout. The credit card information entered was lost as well. This seems to be 'cache is off' issue but the problem is that it is happening to so many customers who say that their cache is turned on.

We had many complaints but we did not yet gather all the details as we did not want to bother the customers with lots of questions. Our solution is to use the simple Paypal checkout until this is fixed. This is not our preferred solution. We need the Pro solution or we have to switch carts.

When will this plugin be updated so it can be used on all browsers?

Hi,

There is nothing in the paypal pro plugin which can cause an issue on a specific browser.
The plugin read the credit card details and call Paypal pro ; depending the result the order is created or not.
If not, the user will stay in the checkout.
If the order is created the user will see the "thank you page" of Paypal pro (which can have a redirection to another page depending your configuration).

That process can't be influence by a browser ; there is no interaction between paypal pro and the browser.
The only advice that I can give you is to check that your template right display the Joomla message and to activate the "debug" mode in the plugin in order to store some trace in the HikaShop payment log file.

I hear what you are saying but I cannot tell that to the many people who could not order.

I turned on "Debug System" but the bug console was visible to even registered customers. How do I make this debug console visible to super admins only?

Hi,

I never wrote to activate the Joomla debug system ; I wrote that you need to activate the debug mode in the plugin ; which is totally different.

I think I found the problem. When the CVC option was turned on, and no CVC (or incorrect) CVC code was entered, then the cart all the credit card information was removed without any error message.

Our workaround was to just turn off the CVC option for now.
