I'm setting up payment in a store for a client who uses Paypal Website Payment Pro to accept payments in a form processing website. On that site we used: API Username, API Password, Signature. I entered this into the Paypal Website Payment Pro plugin in HikaShop.

1. When I do this it actually says Pay by PayPal Pro and "You can pay by credit card using this payment method". It doesn't include Pay Pal.

2. If I enable the PayPal plugin too. Nothing happens when the checkbox is clicked.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

1. PayPal Pro allows you to pay by credit card with a form included on the checkout of the website. That's what it does so it's normal it does that. If you want customers to be able to also pay with their paypal account, you should rather use the PayPal standard plugin, or the PayPal advanced plugin.

2. I don't understand your question. It's normal that nothing happen when you select the PayPal payment method during the checkout. The payment form will be displayed after the checkout.

Nicholas. Thanks for the reply, but;

1. When I set-up Paypal Website Payment Pro to accept payments in a form processing website, on the form processing site it accepts Credit Cards (without making a Pay Pal account) and Pay Pal. If my client owns this type of PayPay account, can he still use PayPal standard plugin, or the PayPal advanced plugin. Is there a downside?

2. As regards to this question. I have enabled Paypal Website Payment Pro and Pay Pal on the account for now. Pay Pal does work. When I check to pay by Pay Pal, it looks like you either need a PayPal account or need to make one. It doesn't give the option to just use a card with making account. Is that correct?

Thanks once again.

Hi,

1. PayPal merchant accounts can be used for different APIs, that's not a problem.
If what you setup also propose to pay by PayPal, then it's not a PayPal Pro that you setup. Probably a PayPal advanced.

2. That's not correct. PayPal standard can also allow you to pay without creating an account, however, that's only the case if you have a business PayPal merchant account.

PayPal names for payment APIs, options, etc are not easy to follow... I feel your pain.
