Hi,

We didn't activate the auto update yet as we're waiting for more feedbacks and making sure that everything is ok with the new release before.

Nicolas,
Ok we have several issues now, so it might be a good thing your testing the release as such...
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/products/other/zippy-sheets
If you select any of the items on this page it goes into an ordering loop, its like the details of that product have been corrupted.

This page loads and you can see its listing nearly every product in the store...

We are having a similar issue to this other ticket that has been lodged.
I am looking at the solutions it mentions, the reason why we updated is Joomla 3.5.1 broke the payment portal, then i patched Joomla and hikashop and its now broken the shop.

Your assistance with this ticket would be very much appreciated as this is now causing huge issues with customers getting stuck in purchase loops

From what we can see the thing that has been broken is all the products with Variants and Characteristics.
With regards to our site, this is a critical part of the shop, and this was broken with the update.

Please let me know what we can do to recover this, as we had to run the patch to repair the issue with the payment plugin, then we had to run the second patch to fix the load times of the site.

Hi,

Ok we have several issues now, so it might be a good thing your testing the release as such...

We always extensively test the releases before doing them. But we can't see everything. That's why we don't activate the auto update for a few days/weeks after each release so that people can first test them on their end, and when we feel it's stable enough, we activate it, so that people with live websites can also update.
If you have a live website, you shouldn't update Joomla, HikaShop or any extension directly on it.
You should first do it on a test website and when everything is ok for you, you can proceed on the live website.
We can't predict what will break in Joomla releases. So we can only provide patches after the fact.

1. The issue with the link to the product pages seems to come from your canonical URLs which are incorrect in your products. Turn off the "force canonical URLs on listings" and that should fix the problem.

2. The issue on that other thread is that the modules on the right part went under the product page because of a change in the HTML of the product page. I don't see that problem on your product page:
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/product.../single-bed-blankets
So I don't understand what problem you have which is similar to what is there ? Did you already fix it ?
On our end, we're currently investigating the issue with the microdata tags for the other thread and we'll reply soon there.

3. I've tested the characteristics switching mechanism on the page www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/product.../single-bed-blankets but it seems to be still working.
Could you explain more in depth what is not working with it on which page ?

Nicolas
Thanks for getting back to me, we have turned the site into Catalogue mode as we were having so much trouble trying to identify where the issue had come from, the main issue started when we ran the 3.5.1 update it broke the payment method for the site.
Once we downloaded the new version of Hika shop this was resolved, it was not for another 24 hour that we then noticed the loop issue.
Please follow the link below and then select on 'Green Centipede'
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/products/toys/toys

Examples of broken links...
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/products/toys/stegosaurus
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/products/toys/ankylosaurus
Triceratops - links to T-Rex
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/products/toys/spinosaurus
www.nanasweightedblankets.com.au/products/toys/leopardalong

Until the update these products never had an issue, after the update. What i am trying to work out is a way we can check the database or regenerate the links on the existing database.

Nicolas,
The client has requested the broken products turned off, and the site set to live again as during the 48-72 hours that things have been playing up then have lost sales.
I have done this and they are going to re-create the items and see if that resolved the issue, we are still very interested in a way to repair the database and see what we can do to prevent this from happening in future.

Hi,

Thank you for the additional information. I was finally able to reproduce the problem.
It strange that you didn't had it before because it was there already in the 2.6.1 and the 2.6.0
Or maybe you didn't see it before ?
The problem is linked to the ids being removed in the SEF URLs and the product SEF name being empty. It leads to a bug whereby the system isn't able to properly process URLs where the product name/alias has only one word.
I've added a patch on our end to fix that.
It requires changing the code:

elseif(empty($productSef)){
							$vars['ctrl']='product';
							$vars['task']='listing';
						}
to:
elseif(empty($productSef)){
							$vars['ctrl']='product';
							$vars['task']='show';
						}
in the file components/com_hikashop/router.php

we are still very interested in ... what we can do to prevent this from happening in future.

To avoid that, you need to do what I said in my previous message:

If you have a live website, you shouldn't update Joomla, HikaShop or any extension directly on it.
You should first do it on a test website and when everything is ok for you, you can proceed on the live website.

And when I say "when everything is ok for you", I don't mean a 2 minutes test. But more complete tests.
Also, it's always better to wait for a few days before updating. On our end, we still haven't updated to Joomla 3.5.1 on our website. We want to do it during this week. But we were waiting for more feedbacks on the release before, and the time to do proper testing at that time. There is no need to rush things anyway, unless it's a really bad 0-day security issue fixing release.
When your website is a critical piece of your Business, being on the bleeding edge of updates of the software running it is not a good idea, especially if you can't fix the problems popping up yourself swiftly.

We were having issues with the upgrade that's why we pushed things through we normally run between 15-1 hours worth of testing.
We will go through and roll out what you have suggested.

Thanks for that script it has fixed several of the items and we have been able to turn that feature back on.

There are a couple that are still not working they link to other products.
Triceratops - links to T-Rex
Red, Yellow & Black Centipede - links to Green Centipede

Not sure as to why this is happening.

'Red, Yellow & Black Centipede - 2KG' When we attempt to save this item we are getting this message...
Error
An element with the same alias already exists
Error Saving

I have checked with the filter for both the name and the product code and there are no duplicates unless its cause of special charters.

Hi,

1. Could you provide:
- the link you get on the products listing for one of these products
- a screenshot of all the settings of that product

2. The error message is on the alias, not the name nor the code. So you're not checking the correct field.
You need to check the value of the "alias" field of your product. It too needs to be unique.

If you select the from this menu;
Custom Blankets: Generic
Custom Single Bed Blanket
redirects to
Single Bed Blanket

Also we are now seeing this message on the product;
'576 - HIKA_NOT_DEFAULT_VARIANT'

Hi,

1. I don't see what you mean.
It's normal that you first link doesn't work. There is no product with that alias in them.
And regarding the link directing to another product, it just means that you have two products with the same alias.

2. Regarding the error with the variants, go in the Variants tab and click on the default icon for one of the variants and that will solve the problem.
