Hi,
HikaShop Paypal Express Checkout payment plugin
-> to bypasss the HikaShop checkout. It can be useful when you don't need to charge for taxes based on the user address, allow for coupons, charge shipping fees, etc. Basically, you want an experience as fast as possible for the customer (like for an ebook seller who doesn't need to collect different taxes based on the location of the customer)
HikaShop Paypal Advanced payment plugin
-> It's an old API of PayPal to improve a bit the checkout from the oldest PayPal API. You should never need this. It's in the package so that it is still maintained for people relying on it on their website.
HikaShop Paypal Checkout payment plugin
-> This is the one you should use almost all the time. It's the latest and best solution.
HikaShop Paypal payment plugin
-> This is the oldest plugin. It was the default for a long time. It still works well, but PayPal doesn't want merchants to use it anymore. Also, it doesn't have all the capabilities that the PayPal Checkout plugin has, like paying with Venmo, Pay later, etc.
HikaShop PayPal Pro payment plugin
-> This plugin is to have the credit card form directly on the checkout. It only works in a limited number of countries (for the merchant), and it is quite old. Long term, this capability will be included in the PayPal Checkout plugin.
Hikashop Paypal Website Payments Pro Hosted Payment plugin
-> This is also for an old API of PayPal. You should never need this. It's in the package so that it is still maintained for people relying on it on their website.
There are actually 2 other payment plugins for PayPal:
- PayPal recurring is included with HikaSerial Subscription to handle recurring payments (the PayPal account of the customer is automatically used at fixed intervals to renew a subscription)
- PayPal Adaptive is included in HikaMarket Multivendor to handle payments with auto split of the fees between the vendors and the shop owner. This requires first to have a special contract with PayPal as a merchant and it's only useful if you're going to setup a marketplace where customers can purchase goods from different vendors at the same time.
