-- HikaShop version -- : Business 2.3.1
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.1
-- PHP version -- : 5.3+ / 5.4
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : safari/ chrome

Hello,
I have a couple of issues.
I know I still have a previous hika version on previous Joomla ( but I am under the process of updating, and the whole website you will find in the given url is in dev status), but I would like to bring these issues on table, so be prepared in case the updates won't solve them.

So here are my issues:
1. Category Products pages accessed through Categories Pages do not display products.

Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

2. However, there are already created menu-items for all these subcategories (hidden). If we access any of the subcategory products page by the menu-item url
Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
, it displays the products. So here is coming the next issue, why clicking on a category title -link, doesn't use the existing menu-item to create the url, but instead it goes the "hika-way" and creating the url with the ids - or "category/product - keyword" ?

Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Thanks in advance.

Updating to Joomla 3.3.6 and Hikashop to 2.3.4 - Issue with SEF URLs for categories linked from Categories Display Pages is resolved.
Now it uses the menu item to display the products of this category.

However I checked to see how it behaves if not using the SEF URL created for the menu item (/categories/{id}-{category-name}..., which may apply when there is not a menu item for this category, and it still does not show products.

Hi,

The issue seems to come from the associated module of the category listing menu.
You probably don't have this associated module, so thanks to associate a product listing module and enable the option to synchronize the products. You should have an alert message on the menu edition page in backend to generate automatically this module.

My Catagory layout is not clicking to products. When i associate a module it just adds another copy below the firs tset of categories and niether set clicks to anything. the page just blinks. I went over all the menus, modules and associations. No go. Please advise.

i cannot wrap my head around hikashop. the association between the categories/products and the menu items and the display modules is too much. i just wanted to display the categories and then click down to the products. the categories only click back to teh same category page. when i create menu links for a specific category, it only displays one when the number of items says 20 and there are three items in the category. i've been trying for weeks. why is this so difficult?

Hi,

You're free to complain, but if you want us to help you out so that you can connect the dots and understand, we would need that you provide more information on the issue.
Because with what you said, all I can say is that you have something not configured properly in your menus/modules settings and advise you to use the preconfigured menus and modules which are already configured properly to display products and categories. Maybe you want to check your settings against the settings of our demo website if you don't want to provide more precise information on your issues ?

yea... sometimes i rage post on teh internets; too bad. I can't' be the only one having this difficulty comprehending the HS display structure. but that's a different thread.

It was the SEO in Joomla and HikaShop SEO Configuration (See SEF Matrix).

I checked the Documentation and its... thin. Did I miss a Forum link somewhere?

How to Display Categories and Products in HikaShop

  1. HS >> Products - there are products in categories
  2. JOM >> Menus >> New >> Hikashop >> Categories Listing (save)
  3. HS Options >> Published Yes, Associated category = 2 Products, Number items = 20 (save)
  4. System message: auto create module association >> clicking HERE
  5. Associated products listing for category listing menu ### >> Published Yes, Associated category = 2 Products, Number items = 20
  6. JOM >> Extension >> Modules >> ...module ### (check module is published and assigned pages.)
  7. HS >> Configurations >> SEO >> Yes *4 (save)
  8. JOM >> Global Configuration >> SEO >> Yes *4 (save)

if it's still not working, check htaccess.

SEO Matrix

* off joomla +, off HS = ok
( /index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=category&task=listing&cid=17&name=air-starters&Itemid=284 )

* on joomla + off hs = nope, does not go to sub-categrories/products
( /shop/a-menu-for-each-category/category/listing/17-air-starters.html )

* off joomla + on hs = ok
( /index.php?option=com_hikashop&view=category&layout=listing&Itemid=284 )

* on joomla + on hs = ok, optional but optimal
( /shop/a-menu-for-each-category/category/air-starters.html )

SOLVED! If I had a nickel...

Hi,

You're correct that the display system is somewhat complex at the moment. It's something we want to improve this year in HikaShop. So it should get better in the future.

It's great that you found the solution. When you say "on hs", I suppose that you're talking about the "Activate smaller url" option of the HikaShop configuration. That option should indeed always be on, as it is by default. We'll actually remove it soon as there is no point in having it.
Thank you for your feedback.
