-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.4
-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.5
-- PHP version -- : 5.4.45
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Chrome 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit)

I have many menu links to various category listings. All child menu items are being set to "Inherit (div)" on the Categories Options tab. These child menu items are not, however, inheriting from the parent menu item. Why is that the case? Is there something else I need to set to make that happen? To be clear, see screen shot for the "Inherit (div)" that I am talking about. I'm doing the same thing on the Products Options tab with the same results.

Hi,

The inherit there means that the layout type depends on what you configure in the main setting of the HikaShop configuration.
If you change it there, it will change for all the menu items and modules with the "inherit" choice selected. And it's the same for each option of the menu items/modules with an inherit choice.
It's not related with the menu item being a child of another menu item.

Bummer. I was hoping to be able to set the parent menu items and have their children take the same settings. Oh, well. Thanks for the reply!

But the inherit options are available only for the first time when we create a menu, right?
Because if inherite colums are set to 4, and we save the menu like this, if we go to hikashop settings and we change that default option to 3 columns, the menu that was created before, it will continue to show the products on 4 columns and not on 3 like the new settings was set, right?

Hi,

That's correct.
The "default parameters" in the HikaShop configuration are used for two things:
- if the option in the menu item / module has an "inherit" choice and it is selected (as it is the case by default), it will use the value of the option in the main configuration.
- if the option in the menu item / module doesn't have an "inherit" choice, like it is the case for the number of columns and rows, when you create a new menu item or module, the system will use the value from the configuration to intialize the option of the menu item / module.
