mod_hikashop carousel: not responsive and hard to set up

Hi

We are facing several issues with the mod_hikashop module:

we need to display 5 products from a given products category in a row. Since there are much more than 5 products in this category we expect to have some slider effect with every 5 seconds new 5 products replacing the first 5.

In the hikashop option tab of the module we selected the DIV settings

1- If I set 50 x 1 products (to be sure we will have all the products of this category) in the elements and activate the carousel with 5 products to display, the carousel will only display 5 products and even when it slides the other products are not shown. the first ones are slided left without revealing the other ones

2- If I set 50 x 1 products (to be sure we will have all the products of this category) in the elements and activate the carousel with 10 products to display, the carousel will only display the first 10 products in a row but again won't never reveal the other ones.

3- this module is not responsive at all. Did we miss something please ?

4- how can we have navigation arrows on the left and right sides of the carousel?

Thanks a lot for your support

Cyril

Hi,

1. and 2. Usually the number of columns should be equal to the number of products per slide and you should have the number of rows based on the number of slides you want. So if you have 50 products and you want to display 5 per slide, you would have 5 columns and 10 rows.
If that doesn't work like that, then it might be a CSS or javascript issue on the page. It happens with templates sometimes based on how they are done. Thus, we would need a link to the page to say more about it.

3. That's right. We've actually worked on a new carousel system for the next version of HikaShop which will be responsive and will use the same settings. It should be out before the end of the month if all goes well.

4. There is the setting "Switch buttons" that you want to activate in the settings of the carousel options section of your module to have that.

Hello,

We perform some major modifications in HikaShop recently so we need to perform a lot of tests before releasing HikaShop 3.2.0.
With the summer and the limited team (holidays), it might require more time than usual.
Even if we really hope to perform that release during the month, it might be in September.

Hi,

It's already included in HikaShop 3.2.0.
That's one of the major features of that version.
However, if you update HikaShop, the new carousel is deactivated so that it doesn't change your website frontend, in case you were previously using the old one.
So you need to toggle the "carousel legacy" setting of the HikaShop configuration in order to get the new carousel. The settings in the modules are the same as before.

Hi

in the Hikashop advanced setting I deactivated the Carousel legacy but the mod_hikashop module has the same look and behaviour. It is still not responsive.

is there something more to do ?

thanks

Hi,

Then it might be because you have view overrides.
Try switching to the default template of Joomla to see if it displays the new carousel system on the module you have configured as a carousel.

Hi, I'd be grateful if you could help with the same issue:

I'm trying to recreate the second Hikashop carousel option as shown on demo.hikashop.com/index.php/en/hikashop/...display-with-effects , although with just one row.

I can get it to autoslide (like the first option), but I don't want this, and either way, the left/right arrows don't appear, hence the user can't flick through the products themselves, which suggests it's not responsive?

Under > HikaShop > Configuration > Advanced, I changed “Legacy Settings” of “Carousel Legacy” to No.

I'm testing this in Joomla's default Template "protostar" - see dev.elitetraining.co.uk/product-listing

In our preferred "Helix Ultimate" template, it's even worse - see dev.elitetraining.co.uk/crime-squad-business-game where the title can't be seen under the image and they link through to Components rather than Product Listings?

I'd appreciate your expertise.

Hi,

I wanted to look at your situation but I don't see any carousel on these pages.
Could you provide the updated URLs for these pages ?
Also, could you provide a screenshot of the settings under the "hikashop options" tab of your HikaShop content module so that we can better understand the situation ?

Hi Nicolas,

On the product-listing webpage, the carousel are the four images - they're just not scrolling to look like a carousel, which is the issue we'd like help with. For this module, I attach screenprints. This webpage is using the standard Joomla template and is displaying/linking better, just not working! Let me know if it would be helpful to have screenprints for the other webpage module too (which is using our preferred template and currently displaying worse).

Many thanks

Hi,

Here is what I can see on the "product-listing" page:
i.imgur.com/LrK1EgI.png

However, looking at your screenshots I see why.
You need to turn off the "synchronize" and the "related products..." settings in the module. Otherwise, you're only showing the products related to products in your cart.

Regarding the carousel settings, you configured the module to load 4 products in the module, and to have 10 products per slide.
So that's why there is no carousel effect since there are less products than visible products, there is nothing to move.
I would recommend to set 4 in the "products per slide" setting. And then increase the number of rows to have something like 3 rows * 4 columns.
That way the module will load 12 products, display 4 of them at the same time and switch between the 12 products.

Thanks Nicolas.

What settings do I use to:
* display left/right arrows either side, instead of dots or Previous/Next Buttons underneath (I couldn't find options under/near Pagination)?
* show products related to the page the user is on (which explains one product)?
* get the product title to appear underneath the image (this works with the default Joomla template, but not with the template we're using where the image hides the title - increasing the Pane height doesn't work)?

Many thanks.

Hi,

1. There is no option to display left/right arrows instead of the previous / next buttons. However, it's possible with a bit of CSS and translation overrides to convert these previous/next buttons into left / right arrows : www.hikashop.com/forum/product-category-...module-carousel.html

2. Just add the products you want as related products in the "related products" setting of each of your products and they will automatically appear at the bottom of the product page.

3. I'm still not seeing any products carousel on either pages you provided a URL for. So I can't check the issue with the title/image of the products there and thus I'm not sure what to tell you. It probably can be fixed with a bit of CSS, but it depends on what your template does. So I need to be able to see the situation to be able to say what to do exactly.
